I really like the video, and the baked in defence of any contradictions in the lore as 'Imperial Scholars are actually terrible at knowing what happened', and would actually really like that aspect of the setting to stay... I hope we keep getting tantalising little additions every now and again that don't go very far... it's way more fun, because then we can all get absorbed in trying to work out the puzzle...

I think the IP has grown so much that GW has to start framing it in some way. I don’t see the HH as a them doing a bad job of this (making law out of nothing much at all). However, as good a Job as Ian does in his videos explaining the “bad narrator” element of the law. I do think GW needs to be a bit more clear about this (maybe they are, I’m just dumb and have not read it yet). Vague law mixed with head cannon YouTube fuel results in Custodesgate! Or going a few more years back, Primaris vs First Born. Then GW has to write something to support a change (often due to marketing concerns and selling you solders) that locks the law down, and most likely making old duffers like me get upset.

Personally I hope GW leave the ancient history of the setting undeveloped, and don't explore it as anything other than poorly understood myth & legend; but then, I also hoped that 30k & the HH would just be left as myth and not developed, I don't always get what I want!
