The demon girl didn't feel bad. She uses words to manipulate humans. She has a very deranged way of trying to appease humans by killing the village chief and attempting to replace the family's daughter whom she ate. There is no feeling bad or any remorse involved. She is not some morally gray character, which I personally find to be an extremely annoying and overdone trope. She's a demon. It's interesting to watch viewers react to the demons and show signs of being manipulated by them as the audience. It's in our nature to try to be empathetic and find commonality, especially since the demons look so human, except for their horns. We are naturally inclined to want to understand them, which is why they are so successful at using words to manipulate.
