Trunks is 18 since he was alive when Goku died + 6 months till the cyborgs arrived = ~1 year + 17 years as said by both the cyborgs and Master Roshi. You’ll find out which genre they got rid of in the next set of episodes. They actually did consider Gohan saying yes to Bulma’s proposal so much that in the making of video for this episode they show the pieces of episode and I think voices they were going to use to make it mostly of an awake Trunks in bed at night.
