For the record, Prince Zanac did tell the nobles that the Sorcerer Kingdom refused their surrender. They just thought he didn't try hard enough to give up everything to live. They thought they could pledge their loyalty using his head to show their sincerity. Basically like "Yeah yeah, they only told you no because you suck at negotiating. Let me give it a try. I'll convince them to spare us for sure!"
