The screen writer worked with Winters for 2 months to come up with the outline for the series. Steven Ambrose, the historian at Tulane originally wrote the book Band of Brothers by interviewing all the guys. This was not meant to be a history of the whole war -- it is only a story of this group of guys in Easy Company and what they did during the war which was extraordinary.
