Lord of Mysteries Episode 1 and 2

I'm going to do a sort of analysis, to help anyone who wants to digest this. First of all, I have to start saying that this anime was clearly made for those who read the novel. They skip over a lot of internal monologue and other things that could not be put in because it may have been too much. They could have certainly explained things better. A beyonder is, basically, someone who drinks the beyonder potion. A beyonder has superhuman abilities, and is basically on the path to becoming an eldritch god (as one may have guessed from the intro). The thing is, because beyonders are dealing with such a mysterious and esoteric path, they risk going crazy and mutating into those monsters (I believe) A Pathway is basically a path to power that has already been kind of like, investigated, or carved to say. These pathways are basically based on the tarot. The sequences are basically how deep you are into that pathway. 9 being the weakest, where you basically just began, and then as the numbers go lower (8,7,6), you become stronger and stronger. You advance on sequences through potions I think. A sequence has its own gimmick. For example: Let's say that you drunk the sequence 9 Thug Potion of the Strength Pathway (I don't know if this is canon) With this, you will gain... let's say strength and an instinct for battles. To fully gain the power of the thug, you have to move like a thug, talk like a thug, and basically think like a thug, to the point that you are fully a thug, picking fights with anyone. So basically, the title of the sequence they are in (like Klein's Seer or Dunn's Nighthawk) kind of indicate what powers they have. Benson is Klein's big brother I think. I think that's about it. There is a lot of symbolism and confusing imagery because it's meant to be like that at times.

2025-07-04 03:09:51 +0000 UTCAlso btw, don’t stress about not catching everything. I’ve read another novel similar to this and I was a bit lost in the beginning as well. Just keep an eye out and they’ll build the world around you. The MC doesn’t know much, and we’re not coming into it having full background information. Part of the story is in the past that we currently do not know. Idk if you’re gonna keep watching it though, I can imagine it can be a little frustrating.
