this is insanely late but 🙂↕️ during the song more than anything you were confused by lucifer saying things like "ive been dying to find out who you are" because it can seem like he hasn't put in any effort with her but to help understand how they ended up so estranged there are moments in the animation that make it more clear that the reason they drifted apart was because of lilith. in the animation during the song, where charlie is a little girl on lucifer's lap, lilith comes in and takes charlie away. when that happens charlie looks unhappy and lucifer has a sad smile that turns to a frown once charlie cant see him anymore, implying that lilth is the cause. later on in the song when charlie and lucifer are singing together, one particular lyric is "not be pulled apart again" which backs up the implications that it was an external force (lilith) who pulled them apart. now that doesn't excuse EVERYTHING on lucifer's side, because while he has been under the impression that its charlie who doesnt want to talk to him (and thats why he doesnt reach out as to not bother her), it is still his job as the father to rebuild the familial connection that had been severed, which he didn't. anyways uhhh yea 🙂↕️
