Early Sneak peek

Here’s a sneak peek of the next episode. There’s been more of a focus on Daichi a little lately.  I sort’ve need to settle him in as a character. But there’ll definitely be more of an equal focus on Akira and Daichi soon.

So the chapter is out now. It's a character building piece, I enjoyed it. I enjoy speculating on where the story is going, so here are my thoughts. Jin is mesmerised by Daichi, but is it an attraction or is he attracted to Daichi's confidence? It makes me wonder if Jin has even sat down to think about his sexuality, his suffering and isolation due to Matheson's may have prevented him from actually working through who he is (though that can apply to a lot about him, as a person he seems tragically stunted due to his persecution). Daichi's confidence is intoxicating, he simply owns the space he occupies and it's his sheer force of personality that is getting everyone to respect him and treat him like an equal. I think, despite the gruff exterior, that Daichi pities Jin because Jin is probably what a lot of Morphas end up as during their teenage years, retreating into their shells (and his father would probably work with extreme cases at Morphatech, it's easy to imagine them having a mental health programmes). Akira's jealousy is easy to understand, he sees Daichi as a potential threat/competitor. We don't know if Daichi is even gay or bi yet, but I would wager Akira is fully aware of his own sexuality and has probably already fallen in love with Jin. But I think Akira has a tendency to be over-protective to the point of smothering Jin. It was mentioned in an early episode that Akira had another morphling friend and it was implied something bad happened, so his desire to protect Jin is completely understandable IF that was the case but it's an instinct that can go too far and can keep Jin stunted as a person. If Daichi is for morphas being 'out and proud', then Jin the mouse maybe a project he wishes to fix. If he tries to encourage Jin to be more like him, Akira could react badly if he feels Daichi is encouraging Jin to put himself in harm's way. This doesn't mean Daichi would be totally right, Jin isn't Daichi and I think Jin will never be as self-sufficient as Daichi is or as willing to not care what others think. Daichi seems to not be as empathetic as Akira is and maybe a poor judge of what Jin needs, on the other hand Akira looks like he maybe overcompensating by attempting to meet all those needs so that Jin doesn't have to. My guess is Jin's path between these two is to find the version of himself that balances them.

Could never imagine Seo-Jin trying to get onto the basketball team.
