Annie's chit-chats with the clientele, much like the hair and nails she now sported, had grown longer of late. Habits that were both very much encouraged and rewarded by her employer. Dr Mason had even begun taking time out of his busy schedule to treat her to the occasional lavish lunch on the quieter days. The kind of places her Ex couldn't even dream of getting a table. The Ex who would instead take her out to some crowded dive bar until it was time for another drunken hookup.

It was after one particularly debauched night with the Ex that the Doctor remarked on how tired Annie had been looking lately.
She deflated somewhat, having been expecting the usual daily exchange of compliments with Dr Mason, and began to offer up a flurry of flustered apologies.

"Not a problem we can't fix here in-house" He said with a small clinical smile, leaning closer to examine the ever so slight puffiness beneath her eyes with a surgical gaze.
