There was a pulse of red light as Chandice called to her summon, demanding it appear. She then said something Jaina didn't quite catch but sounded like she said a thousand and one. The room filled with wind as if it were blowing from the center of the circle, and suddenly, a woman appeared.
She was obviously a succubus, with soft blue skin, solid blue eyes, and short curved horns on the front of her head. She had hooves for feet and small, almost delicate wings that made Jaina question if she could fly. The one factor about the woman that made little sense was that she arrived in a long white dress that concealed everything. She held a book in her hand and looked around in shock, blinking her eyes as if confused.
“What the hell?” the woman said as she looked around. “Where is this?”
“Silence, Devil,” Chandice commanded. “I am your master, and you will obey my commands.”
“Like hell, I will,” the woman snapped as she glared at Chandice.
“Umm, are they supposed to talk back?” Hannah asked as Jaina shrugged.
“No,” Chandice said as she lowered her hands. “They normally just know who I am.”
“I have no idea who you are or why I am here,” the woman snapped. “I was just reading my book, and poof, everything went all red.”
“Wait,” Hannah said as she dared to step into the circle. “Are you a player?”
“Yeah, I am a player,” the woman growled, waving her book menacingly at Hannah. “Why would you doubt that?”
“Because we just summoned a succubus NPC,” Hannah replied. “Or, I thought we did.”
“Oh my god!” Jaina cried. “We summoned a player succubus and not an NPC one.”
“That’s impossible,” Chandice cut in. “The spell specifically states it summons an NPC minion.”
“I am not an NPC!” the woman shot back as she turned on Chandice again.
“She has to be a player,” Jaina said. “Only a player is aware of what an NPC is.”
“The spell can’t summon a player,” Chandice argued. “I can show you the exact text.”
“Well, excuse me for upsetting your expectations,” the succubus mocked. “But I am a player.”
“Oh, no,” Jaina groaned and slapped her forehead. “I should never have told you to do it.”
“Do what?” Chandice asked.
“Not you, Hannah,” Jaina corrected. “I, umm, told her to add her essence to the summoning.”
“You infused my summoning with wild magic!” Chandice cried, throwing her head back in frustration.
“Hello?” the woman called, looking around to glare at them in sequence. “What did you do to me?”
“Not to you,” Jaina insisted. “It's just Hannah can boost other spells with a special skill. I had her boost the summons a little.”
“A little?” Chandice scoffed as she pointed to the blue woman. “We summoned an actual player.”
“It's hard to tell how much I am putting into another person's spell,” Hannah admitted. “It didn't feel like a lot.”
“Great,” Chandice cried as she folded her arms. “Now, what do we do?”
“You send me back,” the woman said. “I know how summoning magic works. You summoned me so you can send me back.”
“I can’t send you back,” Chandice argued.
“Why not?” the woman demanded as her hands curled into fists.
Jaina wondered that, too, and was surprised when Chandice admitted that she had put a restriction on the summon. The strange woman was here to stay until the condition was met or one hundred and one days had passed.
“What restrictions?” the woman asked. “You put criteria on my summon?”
“I was summoning a succubus,” Chandice countered. “Of course, I put a condition on.”
“Well, what is it?” the woman demanded. “You want a question asked? You want me to get you an item from a nearby cave?”
“Umm,” Chandice began before clearing her throat. “You have to give me a hundred and one orgasms.”
Jaina wasn't sure what was happening as the strange woman went oddly silent and seemed to relax. Her hands dropped, and her head tilted to the side as if she had no idea how to react. Then, the reaction came like a thunderclap and stunned the room.
“Are you kidding me?” the woman shouted. “You’re disgusting!”
“What?” Chandice shouted back. “What are you talking about?”
“I don’t do that sort of thing!” the succubus argued. “Only a sick person would think that.”
“And now I feel uncomfortable,” Hannah said.
“Wait, are you telling me you’re a succubus that doesn’t do sex?” Chandice asked.
“Yeah, isn't it obvious?” the woman countered as she held up her arms. “I don't dress like that slut over there.” She finished her point by pointing at Hannah, whose cheeks were flushing purple at being called a slut by another succubus.
The room went silent until Jaina started to laugh. She tried to keep it in for as long as possible, but the situation was too precious. Somehow, Hannah's essence allowed Chandice to break the rules and summon a player instead of an NPC. That player was a succubus who didn't do sexual things. It was almost too hard to believe, yet here she was, and here she would stay if Chandice was right.
“This isn’t funny!” Chandice shouted. “We tore a player out of her home!”
“This is historical!” Jaina cried as she wiped her eyes. “A succubus player that doesn't do sex.”
“Don't play into that stereotype,” the woman demanded as she frowned at Hannah. “Not all of us are whores.”
“Hey!” Hannah shouted as the two women glared each other down. “What is the point of playing a succubus if you don’t want to have sex?”
“I happen to like the look of the character model,” the woman shot back.
“You took a sex-based class purely for the cosmetic features?” Hannah pressed as they locked in a heated stare.
“Why not? Do I have to play my class the way other people expect? I guess that means you took it for the sex,” the woman mocked. “It’s players like you that give us a bad name.”
“It's a sex class!” Hannah shouted. “Most of its powers are related to sex.”
“That doesn’t mean you have to use them,” the woman countered.
“I can’t believe this conversation is happening!” Jaina cried as she bent over. “Oh, my side hurts.”
“Your ass is going to hurt when I am through with it,” Chandice threatened.
“Everybody relax,” Hannah insisted. “I am sure there is a way to fix this.”
“No, there isn't,” Chandice growled. “I set a restriction on her summon. Until she fulfills it, she can't leave my side unless on a specific task I have given her. Even then, she can't be gone long.”
“Just dispel it or something,” Hannah insisted.
“You can’t dispel a summon,” the woman argued. “You could banish me, but that would send me to the hells.”
“Wait, a player can send you to hell?” Hannah asked as her mind began to work on how that might be useful.
“Focus on our problem, not your projects, Dr evil,” Chandice shouted when it became obvious Hannah was lost in thought.
“Great, I am been summoned by a pervert and her slut slaves,” the woman sighed.
“Hey, now,” Jaina cut in as the blue woman took on a pouting expression. “You keep using that word as if it were a dire insult. I can assure you that you are wrong.”
“I am sure I am right,” the woman countered. “And I don't care what you expect. I am not so much as holding your hands.”
“She’s awfully combative,” Hannah said.
“You would be too if some bimbo halfwit and her slutty pets summoned you out of your home and demanded you do perverted things,” the woman shouted.
“Ok, that’s it,” Chandice growled. “Hannah, dominate her and make her do it so I can get rid of her.”
“I can’t do that to a player,” Hannah said as she stepped back. “I am not even sure I am comfortable doing it to an NPC.”
“Do what?” the woman demanded.
“The woman you keep insulting isn't a succubus,” Jaina explained. “She's a Lilim princess, and she can dominate lesser succubi, bending them to her will.”
The summoned woman turned to Hannah with a look of both fear and wonder in her eyes.
“You’re a Lilim?” she asked. “Are you very high level?”
“Umm, define high?” Hannah asked.
“Are you above sixty?” she pressed, taking a step Hannah’s way.
“Yeah,” Hannah said warily. “Why is that important?”
“Then you can bestow the blessing of souls on a succubus,” the woman said.
“What is going on here?” Chandice interjected. “You were all high and mighty with your principles a second ago. Now you look like you want to fall at Hannah's feet and kiss her toes.”
“She's a lilim,” the woman said. “Do you have any idea how rare those are?”
“Umm, no,” Hannah said. “Any devil class can evolve into a Lilim.”
“The hell they can,” the woman laughed. “You have to start as a type of female devil that can choose to become a succubus later. If you pick that, you are stuck in the succubus line. You have to skip it for one full evolution before the Lilim option becomes available. As far as I know, it's the only way to do it.”
“Wait, are you saying there is only one very obscure path to this class?” Hannah asked.
“Yes, and you are the first Lilim I have ever heard of,” the woman said. “Everybody always takes the first evolution into a succubus, never realizing it won’t lead them to Lilim later.”
“What do you know, Hannah’s odd life choices made her special,” Jaina joked.
“Umm, yay, me?” Hannah said.
“This is all very fascinating,” Chandice said sarcastically. “But now we have to find a way to send her back.”
“I don’t want to go back,” the woman insisted and pointed at Hannah. “I want to stay with her.”
“You called me a slut!” Hannah protested. “And not in a nice way. You meant it as an insult.”
“That was before I knew you were a Lilim and could grant me blessings,” the woman countered.
“Oh, I see,” Jaina laughed. “It’s all fine now that you have something to gain.”
“It's not like that,” the woman insisted but Jaina wasn't moved. She, Chandice, and Hannah glared at the woman whose harsh stance melted away the second there was something to gain.
“I don’t have much use for a succubus who doesn’t like to play,” Hannah said. “I have three of them already, and they are more than willing to do what I desire.”
“I don't do that,” the woman said, looking away. “It's gross.”
“Having sex is gross?” Jaina scoffed. “Did you grow up in a convent?”
“I grew up in Argentina,” the woman replied. “My parents were very devout Catholics.”
“There is nothing wrong with that,” Jaina said as she approached the woman. “Good on them for having a strong commitment to sound moral values, but that doesn’t give you the right to belittle us for not having the same moral values.”
“Look, I just don’t like all that,” the woman insisted. “It’s never appealed to me.”
“Never?” Hannah asked.
“What do you want me to say?” the woman replied in a defeated tone. “I just never felt the need, and the whole fluid thing is just… Gross.”
“I can't believe this is happening,” Jaina said as she approached Hannah. “I thought you were reserved, but this woman is shut book. She doesn't even want to think about the possibilities.”
“I don’t get why such a moral person would play a sex devil?” Chandice said.
“Why not?” the woman asked. “It has lots of other abilities that I wanted. I don’t have to do the dirty things.”
“How do you level?” Hannah asked.
“I fight monsters and collect treasure,” the blue woman replied.
“That’s a hundred times slower than if you just played your class,” Hannah insisted.
“It would be a lot faster if you gave me a few blessings,” she insisted.
Jaina thought the whole exchange odd, as the woman both refused to participate in the class's more hedonistic aspects and yet craved its boons. She was a funny contradiction, and thankfully, Chandice finally thought to ask her name. It was Melody, and she played a succubus conjurer who specialized in small pets. Jaina wasn't sure what they meant exactly, so she let it go as Chandice began to question her.
The woman came from an area known as Tharsus and had a hidden lair near a city called Stone Wall. Hannah remarked that the name was boring and asked where this city was. It was hard for her to say as she never wandered far from her spawn. She thought it was in the northeast of the spawn ring, a little into the wilds. She said there were lots of mages in her area, particularly those good with storms. She went to the city disguised as a normal human and spent her days reading books in a coffee shop.
“You didn’t need to come to New Eden to live such a boring life,” Jaina quipped.
“My life isn’t boring,” Melody argued. “I happen to like it.”
“No sex, though,” Jaina pressed. “How do you manage?”
“Hey, I went without it just fine until you meddled in it,” Hannah countered.
“Oh, really?” Jaina replied. “So in all that time of people coming to your graveyard, you never once saw a muscled warrior and thought, what the heck?”
“Umm,” Hannah began as she blushed again. Jaina knew Hannah had to have a few skeletons in her closet, and this good girl act wasn't so pure. Still, Hannah was very loving and likely didn't give her affections away too freely until very recently. She let the poor woman off the hook and turned her attention back to Melody who was still standing in the circle looking dejected.
“Alright, let's focus on what we can do for Melody,” Jaina said. “Worst case scenario, she's stuck here for a hundred days?”
“A hundred and one,” Chandice reminded. “And yes. If we can't find a way to break the summon and send her home, then she has to let the timer run out.”
“Why a hundred and one?” Hannah asked, and Jaina nodded, wanting to know too. Chandice explained that when dealing with demons or devils, everything had strange wording. All their spells were keyed to either a hundred and one or a thousand and one, and the magic worked best if you used that number. That was why she made the number of orgasms a hundred and one: She knew it would be fully binding. A demon or devil could not break or cheat any task set to that number.
“That's an odd restriction,” Hannah remarked. “I wonder why they set it that way.”
“It works that way for almost anything you conjure,” Melody said. “Like if I conjured a broom, it would vanish in a hundred and one days.”
“Hmm,” Hannah began as Jaina saw that evil genius mind working on some fascination that revelation brought up. She snapped her fingers before Hannah’s face to bring her out of the trance and turned back to the woman.
“Well, if you are going to be stuck here for a while, then the least we can do is offer you a place to sleep,” Jaina said.
“You mean alone, right?” Melody pressed in a tone that said she would accept no other answer.
“If that’s what you want,” Jaina said. “Nobody is going to force you to do anything you don’t want to, but you may as well know we are part of a harem. You are going to see things you don’t approve of.”
“I am not so sure she will,” Chandice said as she approached the woman. “She was pretty quick to soften her tone when she heard Hannah was a Lilim.”
“I didn't soften my tone. I simply appreciate what she is. I told you they are super rare,” Melody insisted. “I bet she's one of maybe three in existence.”
“See,” Jaina smiled and patted Hannah’s back. “You are a rare treasure.”
“Let’s focus,” Chandice insisted as she glared at the woman. “Just how far are you willing to compromise this moral code for the blessings Hannah can give you?”
“I won't compromise anything. I want the buffs, but I am not about to stoop to her level,” Melody insisted.
“Now you listen here!” Jaina shouted as she got into the woman's face. “I am sick of your insults. Hannah is a saint, and if you are stuck here for a hundred days, you're going to see that everyone loves her. Just because you are afraid to show physical affection doesn't mean we are bad people for doing so.”
“I am not afraid,” Melody countered. “It’s just twisted to assume a woman wants to be treated like a sex object.”
“Don't knock it until you have tried it,” Jaina quipped. “And I am sorry, but you picked a class that screams I am here for sex. You can't walk around holding up a sign that says I am a sex devil, then be angry when people assume you are.”
“I am not holding up a sign,” the woman argued.
“Yes, you are!” Jaina countered. “Ugh, it's just like girls back home. Dressing trashy, going to clubs, flirting their asses off, then getting angry when the boys notice.”
“In my experience, they didn't mind so long as it was the right boys,” Hannah added.
“I just wanted a class that had wings, horns, a tail, and the ability to shapeshift,” Melody insisted. “I looked at a hundred other classes with some of it, but this was the only one with all four just the way I wanted them. I almost didn't play it because of the expectations, but then I thought, why do I have to play it the way everybody else expects? Why can't I play it my way and be happy?”
“Hmm,” Jaina replied as she reconsidered the angry woman. She had a point that she wasn't bound by the expectations of others. On the other hand, she had no right to hurl insults at people for not sharing her opinions. She offered the woman a truce, saying that if she would accept how Hannah and the others played, they would accept her choices. That seemed to placate her, but she asked what she would do in the meantime.
“I know,” Jaina said as she thought to soften the mood. “Why don't we sit on the upper balcony and have some tea to relax and talk it through?” Chandice and Hannah agreed, and soon, they sat around a table in the open air under the magical forest. The sight did wonders for Melody, who looked about in awe and asked what this magical place was. Jaina explained Lovewood and what went on under the colorful canopy.
Hannah added to the magic by singing a little song and encouraging magical flowers to bloom all around them. They sat in the open air with a fresh pot of spiced tea as Chandice finally apologized for summoning her.
“It wasn’t supposed to summon a player,” Chandice said. “I am so sorry.”
Melody nodded but couldn't tear herself away from the magical world around her. It was all the more enticing when a beautiful fairy woman with purple hair and lavender skin fluttered up to the balcony on black, blue, and purple butterfly wings.
“Oh!” Melody cried as Gisley landed on the railing with a blushing smile. She wore her white flower-like dress as she curtsied to their guest.
“Who is your new friend?” Gisley asked as her antenna danced.
“She’s so beautiful,” Melody said as she got up and slowly approached Gisley.
Jaina watched in amusement as the succubus woman reached out a hand to touch the fairy as if she might not be real.
“Hello,” Gisley said as she fluttered her wings. “I am Gisley.”
“You are so pretty,” Melody said as Gisley took her hand. “What are you?”
“A lunar fairy,” Gisley replied with a flutter of her wings so she could do a dancing spiral in the air. “Are you one of Hannah’s succubi?”
“Me, no,” Melody replied and stepped back. “I don’t do that.”
“Don’t do what?” Gisley asked.
“It’s a funny story,” Jaina interjected.
“There is nothing funny about it at all,” Chandice corrected. “I want to see if you are still laughing when you explain this to Roric.”
“Explain what to me?” Roric called as he came up the steps to join them. He stood tall, his pointed ears high, and his noble-looking eyes took them all in. He was dressed in a noble coat of jade and gold that made him look like a lord of some noble house.
“Oh, I didn't know you were here,” Jaina began nervously as she glanced at Melody. She paused when she saw the woman's longing expression as she gazed at Roric.
“Who is that?” Melody whispered to Gisley.
“That’s our master,” Gisley replied as she took flight and fluttered to Roric’s side, leaving trails of silver glitter.
“He’s your master?” Melody asked as she looked around. “Oh, right, you’re all slave girls.”
“Not all of us,” Chandice corrected, tossing her hair to reveal that her neck was bare.
“Has Hannah made another succubus?” Roric asked as Melody slowly approached him. The woman fumbled as she attempted to present herself to Roric and make his acquaintance. Roric was polite, if a bit formal, as he shook her hand, only to make her blush deeply.
“Oh, you have to be kidding me,” Jaina groaned. “She’s attracted to Gisley and Roric?”
“Yep,” Hannah said as she studied the scene. “I can see her attraction with my powers. She is head over heels for them both but has it bad for Roric.”
“So I summon a succubus, and she is more interested in my husband than me?” Chandice remarked.
“Wait, you summoned her?” Roric asked as he turned to regard them.
“I forgot you have good hearing,” Jaina said and got up to pry Melody away from Roric. She explained the whole affair while sitting the woman down and insisting on having some tea. Roric shook his head when Jaina admitted to pressuring Hannah to add essence to the spell's effect.
“So she’s not interested in seduction and sex?” Roric asked.
“I never said that,” Melody choked, looking at Roric longingly. “I meant to say I was looking for the right person.”
“That isn’t what you said at all,” Hannah shot back with an accusing finger. “You called me a slut and said I was a bad example.”
“That was before,” Melody insisted. “I was confused.”
“Nobody is going to buy that,” Chandice insisted. “Not after the performance you put on. She changed her tune when she discovered Hannah was a Lilim and then went all weak in the knees when you two arrived.”
“Why is Hannah's being a Lilim special?” Roric asked, and Jaina filled him in. Roric nodded, then looked Melody in the eyes as she smiled. Jaina could tell Roric was trying to find a solution but finally turned to Chandice. “I assume she’s yours to command.”
“That’s right,” Chandice replied as Melody scowled. “And I can already tell it’s going to be a blast.”
“If you hadn’t been such a pervert!” Melody shouted as she lost control.
“I was summoning a sex devil!” Chandice replied. “What else was I going to use her for?”
“Alright,” Roric cut in as he stood between the two women. “Obviously, this is Jaina's fault,” he said with a firm look her way. Jaina couldn't deny that she had been the one to provoke Hannah and, as a result, drag poor Melody here. Roric suggested that Chandice give Melody a room in the shop and put her to work with light duties. She would be free to roam the forest and visit the city but only under the condition she bite her tongue. She was not welcome to scold players for making a wrong assumption, especially considering there were several other succubi in the forest who were more than willing. They would do their best to accommodate her needs and make her time comfortable until she could go home.
“You would do that for me?” Melody asked as she was ushered to a chair and sat down.
“We don't abuse people here,” Roric explained. “Everything we do is voluntary, and the masters treat their girls with respect and gratitude.”
“It's really just a big family,” Hannah explained. “A lot of us are married as well.”
“Not all of us,” Jaina pouted and held up her hand. “I am still waiting for my ring.”
The moment was lightened as Roric assured the woman that she would be treated as a guest, not a slave. Melody nodded and even apologized for her anger earlier.
“I have a question,” Gisley said as she bounced on her perch. “Can she sing?”
“Sing?” Melody asked.
“Yeah,” Gisley replied with a warm smile. “All the succubi girls sing to the city, and Hannah sings in the forest sometimes.”
Melody shook her head to indicate that she didn't sing, so Gisley fluttered up, trailing spirals of silver glitter before lifting her voice high. The beauty of the lunar fairy's magic blessed the forest, and Melody looked on in wonder. Jaina wasn't sure what the woman was thinking, but one thing was obvious: If anyone was going to soften that heart, it was the magical fairy and the noble champion Roric.
