Idris 1-8 I can't take it anymore
Added 2023-05-01 00:11:02 +0000 UTCFour days. It had been four days of trekking through the wilds before they found a proper road. It took them almost immediately to a farming village that appeared to be a random world spawn. The people were all NPCs, and none of them had anything to say that didn't involve the weather or the bugs eating the turnips.
They passed through the village and headed on, spending another full day before something akin to a large settlement came into view. Thankfully, Zilix carried her whenever she could, but it was taxing of his power when he did. She spent just as much time carrying him as she wandered the desolate roads, seldom seeing another player. Now they approached a village large enough to have a wall, though she had seen bigger ones around a public park.
“You seem nervous,” Zillix said as he rode on her shoulders.
“I don't know why,” Idris complained. “Maybe because I get accused of being a necromancer every time I run into players.”
“You do have zombies,” Zilix pointed out as he looked back at them. “I could try to disguise them, but so many will tax my power.”
“No,” Idris sighed and turned around. She raised a hand and spoke a command of release, causing the zombies to collapseinto dust. “Nobody can accuse me of being a necromancer now.” She went to turn and head into the village, but noticed a shadow move in the distance.
“Zil!” she gasped but tried not to give away that she had noticed. “Somebody is watching us.”
Zilix looked up and stared into the distance but said he didn't see anything. Idris studied the spot where she swore she had seen the movement, but there was nothing there now. She turned about and headed for the walls, using a gap that served as the entrance to the modest town.
“Keep your eyes open,” Idris said as they neared the walls.
“I don’t feel good about going into a place like this,” Zilix said as she leaned his head around. “I am going to hide.”
“Why would you be nervous about going in?” Idris asked. He explained that humans tended to think dragons of his size had value, and he didn't want to be sold to somebody as an exotic pet. Idris could see his point and had the perfect solution; all he had to do was disguise himself as a lizard. With no wings and a shorter neck, he could easily be passed off as some kind of iguana. He used his illusions to disguise himself, and a moment later, she passed through the gate into the first player town she had seen in over a week.
“So what are we looking for?” he asked as they walked down the street.
“A way to get Roric or Rajeen,” Idris replied. “Maybe somebody here knows who they are and where they went.”
“You really think so?” Zilix asked, but Idris sighed. It was unlikely that anyone knew Roric, but Rajeen's name might have more weight to it. She struck Idris as a political player with a well-known reputation. She stopped the first woman she met and asked her if she knew a woman named Rajeen.
“Sorry, I don’t know the name,” the woman said and headed off. She asked a dozen more as she dared to delve deeper into the town, but nobody knew the name. Annoyed and frustrated, she sought out a place to eat and found a small tavern that claimed to serve the best soup in town.
“Probably because it's the only place in town with soup,” Idris said as she went through the door. The dirty tavern wasn't all that busy, and she took a small table near the wall. With a sigh, she sat down carefully and put Zilix on the table while she waited for a serving girl.
“What are we in here for?” Zilix said as he sniffed the air. “It smells like stale humans.”
“I want some proper food,” Idris replied as she tried to relax.
“I hope that's not the food I smell,” Zilix said, tilting his head. “Can't you summon food?”
“Just basic fruits and bread,” Idris replied. “I want something different. What I wouldn't do for a slice of cake with strawberries.”
“So, what happens if we can’t find anyone who knows this Rajeen?” he asked as he walked to the edge of the table.
“We move on,” Idris replied. “We follow the pull and stop in the next town to ask again. Sooner or later, somebody will know who she is and maybe where. Then we hire somebody to open a portal for us.” A serving girl who was some kind of fox race arrived a moment later and offered her a choice of three soups, all of which came with fresh garlic bread. Idris demanded the one with the most meat and sent the woman away. As the girl walked off, she noticed the three players at the next table starting at her.
“Why are they looking at me?” Idris asked in a low voice.
“I don’t know,” Zilix replied. “But I noticed it right after you sat down. They keep whispering something and looking at you.”
“I have no idea who they are,” Idris replied as she tried to remain calm. She was reminded of the person she saw following them and wondered if there was something odd about this town. “I hope we haven't wandered into the silent hill.”
“What’s that?” Zilix asked.
“A very fun game from my world,” Idris replied. “But not one I would want to participate in for real.” She tried to watch the three without letting on that she had become aware of them. By the looks of it, there was an elf woman who was a magic user. Next, a human man wore an odd type of plated armor that was more for looks than protection. The last man was a race she couldn't place, with very sharp eyes and long, almost orange hair.
“Please, let me eat my soup before you cause me any trouble,” Idris muttered under her breath as the human man got up. She made eye contact as he approached her table and noticed his hand was right over his sword.
“Excuse me,” the man said as he smiled and leaned over her table. “But is your name Idris?”
“Who wants to know?” she replied as her left hand wrapped around the wand at her waist.
“I think you should come with my friends and I,” the man said more as a statement than a suggestion.
“I haven’t had my soup yet,” Idris replied as the wand came free. “Besides, why should I go with you?”
He smiled, and only then did Idris notice the woman was standing and the other man was missing. She felt his hands as they grabbed her shoulders, and he proudly announced he had her. Idris went to jump up, but the human man lunged over the table and tackled her, carrying the three of them to the floor.
“Hold her steady, and I will put a holding spell on her,” the woman said as she hurried over, only to stumble back in alarm. “Hurk! Look out!” The human warrior turned from his struggles with Idris to see what appeared to be a dragon leering at him as it barely fit inside the tavern.
“What the?” the man cried as Zilix put on his best roar and smashed a table with his tail. What followed was a mad frenzy as the warrior jumped up and drew his sword in one fluid motion while a shield appeared on his arm. Idris could see the man wasn't going to run from Zilix's bluff, but then she wasn't interested in playing anymore.
“Rise and serve!” she shouted, calling to the grave. The wooden floor began to crack and splinter before boney arms burst forth and began to claw out.
“Oh, my god!” the orange-haired man cried as six skeletons burst out of the ground with rusty swords in hand. “She's a friggan necromancer!”
“No wonder the bounties are so high!” Hurk cried as he turned around in panic, trying to prevent him from being surrounded. Idris got her wand up and, with a single command, sent a burst of shadowy birds tearing through the man holding her. He screamed in pain as each bird tore away a portion of his health and sent him rolling across the floor. Lighting flashed as the woman shattered a skeleton, but Idris was on her feet now.
“Raging strength!” she cried as the skeletons glowed red light.
[lvl 24 Raging strength] Grant friendly undead in a 10-meter radius a bonus of 40 strength for ten minutes.
“She’s buffing them!” Hurk cried as he rolled to avoid a bite from the dragon. He came up swinging but found his might matched by a skeleton who cackled in delight.
“Zilix!” Idris cried as she scrambled for the door. “Get outside!”
The dragon vanished in a cloud of vibrant colors that blinded the combatants as the skeletons closed in. Idris burst through the door and quickly turned around as her eyes glowed.
“By the black pit, I devour you!” she cried, pointing into the inn.
[level 11 Priestess of Undeath power: Sphere of entropy] Fill an area with black shadows that leech the life from everything inside. All creatures inside the sphere lose health and stamina at a rate equal to the caster's level.
The tavern filled with dark shadows that flailed about as if alive, battering the three people but ignoring the undead they could not feed on. Idris didn't wait to see the outcome and ran down the street with Zilix close behind.
“Why did they attack you?” Zilix asked as he flew beside her.
“I don’t know,” Idris replied. “They said something about a bounty.”
“Why would anybody put a bounty on you?” he asked as they turned a corner and went down an alley. “Did you do something bad before I met you?”
“I fought with a paladin and two women,” Idris replied. “But I can’t believe they would be so mad at me as to put a bounty on my head.”
“Well, Somebody is mad at you,” he said as they finally came to a stop behind a building.
“Can you disguise me?” she asked as the Dragon landed on a nearby barrel.
“I can make you look like anything you want, provided it is about the same size,” he replied.
“Make my hair red,” Idris insisted. “Then make my eyes brown and my skin a little more pale.”
“Alright,” he said, glowing briefly as she felt her skin tingle. She looked at her hands to see they were indeed more white and grabbed a lock of hair to see a rich red color. Hopefully, that would be enough to hide her from anyone else seeking this bounty, but now she wondered how much danger she was in. Had that man she saw on the road been hunting her? Was she in some kind of serious trouble she knew nothing about? All she had were questions and no real way to get answers. Not only that, but her undead powers had gotten her labeled a necromancer, which meant she needed to be out of this town fast.
“Let’s slip out as calmly as we can and get away from this town,” Idris said. “Go invisible so nobody sees you with me.”
“Right,” Zilix agreed, and they quickly made their escape, heading for a gate where five people were already standing with weapons drawn. She quickly turned away and slipped down an alley, heading for the low wall. She used a lot of power to summon a single ghoul, then set it to tunneling a way out for her. She heard people run by on the street, shouting that a necromancer had attacked the tavern and urged the beast to go faster. When it had a whole large enough for her to squeeze through, she dismissed the monster and escaped, fleeing across the countryside on Zilix's back as he took his dragon form. They didn't stop running until the city was out of view, and she carried him in her arms so he could recover.
“Well, that went awful,” she grumbled as they walked across a field, not daring to use a road. “Who is hunting for me and why?”
“We could ask in the next town,” Zilix suggested.
“Oh, right, I will just walk up to some players and ask them why they are hunting for me,” she grumbled.
“I was just trying to help,” he replied. “And don't forget I can keep you disguised for a long time. You could have red hair so nobody will recognize you.”
“Hmm,” Idris replied as she considered the possibility. He had already explained how his power worked and how it was much cheaper and easier to lay an illusion over an existing object. She assumed small cosmetic changes were easy, which was a good thing. From now on, she would wear a disguise when she entered a town to avoid this sort of thing. Whenever possible, she would do a little investigating into why she was being hunted, but her primary goal was to head south. She needed to find Rajeen, and that meant learning where the woman's home was. It was this very thought that jarred her memory and brought a hand to her face.
“I am an idiot!” Idris cried as her eyes went wide.
“You have finally seen what I see?” Zilix asked.
“Oh, you shut up,” Idris snapped and threw him off her shoulders so she could take off her pack. She slung it to the ground and dug through it for the letters left behind by Roric, and sure enough, the name of Rajeen's city was boldly recorded, as were instructions to use the gold they left her to pay for a portal.
“I knew the name all along,” Idris growled. “All I needed was somebody to open the damn portal!”
“So we just wasted our time?” he asked.
“Yes!” she growled and shook the letter in her hand. “I was so lost in my world that I forgot everything about it. I haven't even considered using the fairy glitter they gave me.”
“What fairy glitter?” he asked and approached the pack.
She took out the tiny jar and explained how it was the silvery glitter that came from Gisely's body. If she put a pinch of it over her head, she would become visible to the fairy woman in the dream. Gisley could then enter her dream or pull her into another dream, and they could all talk.
“Why haven’t you done that to tell them where you are?” he asked.
“I have only two uses, and I have been afraid I will miss them,” Idris explained. “And to be honest, I keep forgetting it's there.”
“You should do it now,” he suggested. “Tell them you are being hunted and need their help.”
“I need to do it at night when I have the best chance of us all being asleep,” Idris argued, deciding that tonight would be the night. She needed to confront them and let them know she was angry at being abandoned for so long. She also prayed they would come to get her and take these belts away so she could play with herself for a solid week.
“Common, we have to find someplace safe for me to sleep,” she sighed and packed her things away. “Let’s find an inn and get a room.”
She kept off the roads until they were hours away, then followed the first road she crossed that headed in roughly the right direction. The sun was waning, and the wind blew in her face as storm clouds gathered overhead. She passed players on the road four times, and every time, Zilix disguised her with red hair and brown eyes. She asked one group where she could find a major city and was delighted to hear one was less than two hours walk away.
Her hopes were dashed when a storm broke, and it began to pour, turning the road into mud that forced her to take shelter in a copse of trees. Wet and disappointed, she bedded down to wait till morning and summoned her zombies to stand guard. Before closing her eyes, she doused herself with fairy glitter and went to sleep, praying for a meeting.
The morning air was cool and damp when she opened her eyes to a world still dark with a sun poised to rise. She sat up to stretch the soreness from her muscles before remembering the glitter.
“Oh, no,” she cried and looked around. “It didn't work.” She quickly fished out the little bottle and the last pinch that remained. Somehow Gisley hadn't found her in the dream, and she was down to a single use of the glitter. With a heart heavy with disappointment, she crawled to her feet and wondered if the dust had been damaged somehow. Could it have been affected when Zilix tried to dispel the belt's magic? Maybe Gisley hadn't slept that night and wasn't available to see her. Should she try again tonight or save the dust for something vital?
A little squeak of a yawn caught her ear as the tiny dragon at her side lifted a sleepy head.
“Good morning,” he said as his head tilted to one side so far it made her question if he had bones in his neck. “Did you speak with them?”
“No,” Idris replied as her voice cracked. “It didn’t work.”
“Why not?” he pressed.
“How should I know?” Idris groaned and put her face in her hands. “Why does it seem like this has all gone wrong? I was never supposed to be in a belt this long, and now I can't even reach them for help.”
“But we can still open a portal to this Rajeen woman, can't we?” Zilix asked.
“If I can find a mage or wizard to do it for us,” she replied. “I am pretty sure I can afford it, but players can charge ridiculous amounts. Maybe if people in that city know who Rajeen is, somebody might be willing to do it for her sake. But we have to go into a city when people are looking for me, and you don't like being around them.”
“Nobody bothered me when I pretended to be a lizard,” Zilix said. “I will do that again so we can try.”
Idris knew she had only three options. She could risk going into a town and asking about Rajeen, or she could walk for months hoping to find them. The last option was to abandon the whole idea and learn to live with chastity. She would never again know the pleasure of a woman's tongue on her flower or the power of a firm man thrusting deep inside. Just thinking that caused the shaft inside to vibrate, causing her to groan.
“Oh, why did I think that?” she cried and doubled over. “I can’t stand being locked up like this. I need out.”
“Why don’t I carry you,” Zilix offered. “You can’t walk straight when that thing is going anyway.”
She didn't argue as he took his humanoid form and swept her into his arms. She took a moment to dismiss her zombies and clung to him tight as he ran off. She was mad with sensation, rubbing her legs together as the device buzzed inside, keeping her on the edge of a release that would never come. It was a teasing denial that sent her into another frame of mine, making her desperate to find relief. Half an hour in, she made him stop so she could drop to her knees and take him into her mouth.
Zilix groaned as she sucked his lizard cock with a hunger she had never known. She wrapped both hands around him, stroking as she devoured as much of his flesh as she could into her mouth. There was a sense of desperation and submission in how quickly she turned to him, brought on by the maddening teasing of her devices. Her mind was desperate to take him, needing to taste the reward for her efforts. She realized at that moment that had he not been around, she would have resorted to her zombies, probably taking all three of them in her desperate hunger.
He put a hand on the back of her head, and she let out a defeated cry as he guided her deeper. She had to take a hand away as his long cock went down her throat, causing her to moan.
“I like you like this,” he said while guiding the motion, using her to pleasure himself. “You belong on your knees, sucking a cock.”
Idris couldn’t voice a complaint as his cock was deep in her throat. All she could do was look up with pleading eyes, begging him to give her what she needed. All she wanted was that welcomed moment when every pulse of his orgasm would trigger her own. She made helpless groans and whines as he continued to guide her, taking her lower and lower until she had to remove her second hand. Inside, her stomach churned as she looked up, begging him to finish. She couldn't believe how intense the feeling was now and how knowing this was the only way to get relief drove her wild. When it finally came, she reached down to rub futilely between her legs as his orgasm triggered hers. She was in heaven, every throb of his cock renewing the power of that wonderful rush. She kept sucking when he took his hand away, eager to get more out of that dragon's cock.
She didn’t hear his voice as he told her she could stop. Her mind was lost to what was happening and how badly she needed a release. Her hands went to his thighs as she worked her head, taking him good and deep as he began to moan again. She didn't even remember why she was doing it, only that the reward at the end was what she needed. He tried to step back, but she held his legs firmly, her hungry mouth doing all the work. His whole body stiffened as she forced him back to the point of no return, and when he finally lost the battle, she groaned around his cock as fluid dripped from around her belt.
“Idris!” Zilix cried as she refused to pull off him. “Idris, please,” he begged.
She finally pulled off, her chest heaving for breath as she looked up with a predatory stare, a slight smile on her face. Her body was still in the throws of a delicious orgasm as his cock throbbed before her, a little drip threatening to fall. She licked it off and stroked his softening cock to see if there was anything more she could get.
“What has gotten into you?” Zilix asked as she frowned at how dry he was.
“I just needed it,” she said and slowly got up, her body swimming in the warm afterglow of the sex. She fell into his arms as he swept her up and carried her away, her smile showing her satisfaction.
By the time he had to stop, she was back in her right mind, questioning what had happened. Now she carried him as they walked at a vigorous pace, searching for the city they were told was just ahead. When its' walls came into view, she was wondering how far she would have gone for that release. Had Zilix not been there, she would have attacked her zombies and now be regretting it as her stomach turned. Maybe she would have thrown herself at one of the groups she met on the road, pleading with them to let her suck them. She was surprised by how desperate she had become and worried it would return every time she triggered the plugs.
Without thinking, she walked right through the gate and went to the closest merchant she could find.
“Excuse me,” Idris said as she approached a man selling basic adventuring gear from a counter on the street. She waited for the man to acknowledge her and smile as he took her in.
“What can I do for you, sweet thing?” he asked as he leaned on the counter.
Idris thought his behavior was a little too forward, but she was still a bit tipsy from her earlier lust. She smiled and asked if he had ever heard of a woman named Rajeen, and if so did he know how to contact her. He thought the name over for a bit, then shrugged and admitted he didn't know it.
“Of course not,” Idris sighed and turned to address Zilix before discovering he was invisible. Only then did she realize they had walked right in without putting on her disguise. She didn't want to start talking to something he couldn't see, so she held her composure and asked if he knew anyone who might know the mysterious Rajeen.
“You could try down by the adventurers guild,” the man said, pointing down the street. “They tend to get around a lot more than a merchant does.”
Idris nodded and waited for basic directions before declining an invitation to browse the inside of his shop. Instead, she hurried off and went directly into the first alley, waiting until she was well hidden to address Zilix.
“Why don’t I have red hair?” she whispered.
“I forgot to do it,” he replied. “And I didn’t want to change it while he was staring at you.”
“You should have done it before we even reached the gate,” she insisted, holding up her hair to see it was now red.
“I know. I'm sorry,” he replied. “It's just what you did earlier has me confused. I can't stop thinking about it.”
She shook her head but couldn't blame him as it had been dominating her thoughts as well. She realized that they were going to have to have an honest talk later and explain what was going on in her mind. For now, the adventurer's guild seemed like the best place to ask about Rajeen and perhaps a player who could open a portal. She had the coins Roric left her to pay for it, but players could be fickle about prices, especially when there was no competition.
Wearing a simple dress, she made her way down the street with only Zilix now in his lizard form. They got lost a few times, but she eventually found the building and resolutely approached the doors where a few players lingered.
“Do we really have to go in there?” he asked nervously from her arm as they got closer.
“We need to find help,” Idris insisted. “And this is the best place to do that.”
“But, there might be somebody here who can see through my illusions,” he insisted.
She hadn’t given that idea any thought, but it was a moot point now. They were a dozen steps from the door with a woman in mail armor watching her approach. She would have to risk it if she wanted some information and a portal to Rajeen. As she got closer, she wondered what the players were gathered around and noticed it was a message board. Her eyes immediately went to a large drawing of a woman with the name wanted over it. She felt her blood run cold to see her own face with a brief description and orders to bring her in alive. The reward was five thousand gold, enough to put every cheap bounty hunter on her tail.
“New in town?” a man asked as he came out the door. His sudden arrival startled her so much that she turned and fled, running from the building as fast as her legs could carry her.
“What are you doing?” Zilix asked as he clung to her arm.
“Somebody put a bounty on my head,” she cried. “We don’t dare go in there and risk being detected.”
“So, you did upset somebody,” he insisted.
She desperately tried to make sense of it as they headed for the gates. Who had she upset so much they had put such a high bounty on her head? It couldn't have been the paladin and the two women Jaina seduced, as they had nothing to gain by hunting her like this. Was it somebody from before that, and if so, who could it have been? Few players ever came to her little town or stayed the night to experience the adventure. Even if they had, they wouldn't have known she was behind it, and that poster showed her new modified look, not the bald head with bone spikes. That could only mean somebody had been following them, perhaps thinking she was a necromancer. They must have watched as her appearance was changed, then lost her in the night when she left with Roric. Now they were desperate to reclaim her, thinking of the reward that would make five thousand gold pocket change by comparison. It must have been the man who was stalking her in the countryside, or perhaps that was an agent of the man, hunting her down.
“We have to get out of the city and hide,” Idris growled as she ran as fast as her legs would carry her.
“But what about the portal?” Zilix asked.
“I can’t risk it,” Idris nearly cried as her eyes teared up. Her hope of finding a quick ride to Rajeen now dashed to bits, and that pain shook her to the core. She ran out the gate and put the city behind her as her tears finally began to flow freely. She would try the last pinch of glitter tonight and pray that Gisley was watching, or she would be in this belt for a very long time.
Comments
Great to catch up with Idris. I am curious about the time lines. You mentioned 4 days at the beginning of the chapter, and I'm sure the previous chapters account for a few more days, but it feels like many more days/weeks have happened in heather and Jana's stories.
