Not many people have seen Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, but it's Miyazaki's first film, and the one that made him famous in Japan. It's from the 80s but it's my favourite story and the heroine influenced me so much growing up. It's a dramatic and moving story and I think you'll love it - please watch it! Laputa, castle in the sky is a bit steampunk and a mix of drama and comedy - I think you'll like it too, but watch the subbed Japanese version because the dubbed version they ruined it.

2025-10-26 16:48:30 +0000 UTCSeeing the composer, Joe Hisaishi, in concert last year was the most whimsical experience I've ever had. He has made the score for almost all of the Ghibli movies and the concert was almost 2 hours long with a full symphonic orchestra. It was truly magical!

Watching two grown men light up with awe and joy at movies that make me (another grown-up with kids) feel the same way is so pure. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for sharing the experience.
