KPop Demon Hunters (Full Movie Reaction)

KPop Demon Hunters (Full Movie Reaction)

Bummed you didn't like it, but glad you gave it a shot. As for Jinu, you have to imagine he was maybe 16-20 when he made that decision to leave his family behind. I'm not saying it was a good move, but think back to what you were like in your late teens or early 20s.

I’m not even kidding… SOME kpop fans are exactly that fair-weather lmao ! Someone could liteerally hold hands with someone they don’t like and fans will turn against them. It’s mad.

I honestly had planned on watching this myself alone, but when I saw you guys made a reaction to it, I knew I'd rather watch it with you instead :)

Love this movie. I've watched it several times in different languages (French dub was one of my favorites :D). I was definitely more lenient with Jinu regarding his choice on leaving his family. Starving and not able to make a living plus having to provide not only for yourself but for 2 other people as well? He was desparate and it was a horrible choice but it's obvious he regretted it. In his flashback, he's partaking in the food but he doesn't look happy when we see his reflection. Not only did he live with the guilt throughout his time as a human, he had to live with it for 400 years after, at times amplified by Gwi-Ma to keep him under control. I think he more than paid the price for his choice and was really happy that Rumi was also able to see past his that flaw and see a man that was filled with regret and self-loathing for what he'd done.

I've been meaning to subscribe and I've been patiently waiting for this one to hit YouTube. Decided to come peek to see if it was here and I've never signed up so fast. I should have BEEN signed up. Y'all are one of my faves!

Watching this for the first time with you guys! Do I think it’s more of a kid’s speed? Sure. Am I still enjoying it, absolutely! As someone who loves Blackpink and went to watch them on tour, this was a bunch of fun 🫶

This reaction is actually my first time watching this movie. Literally the only reason it took me longer than you guys is because of the song Soda Pop being memed to death and becoming an ear worm that kept me from sleeping and I didn't wanna have to listen to the rest of it.

The Outlaw Cad Bane

I'm not gonna lie these comments are making me not want to watch this reaction. I connect with this movie.

thank you for saying this. I'm an ARMY (a BTS fan) and I would use one of the BTS member's words to describe k-pop: "integrated content"

Just for clarification because I see people saying it with their full chest in the comments lmao, Kpop is not Korean pop, it's a common misconception, Kpop is not a music genre at all, it's an industry (aka labels making different types of content beyond music), and it includes a variety of genres, not just pop. For instance, there is Korean pop that is not Kpop, and there are plenty of kpop songs that don't have an ounce of korean, or pop. It's complicated and confusing and they knew it themselves the moment they created the name, but in their defense at the time it was a niche thing in korea and east asia nobody knew what it would become and no one had any respect for english and what their words actually mean lmao (that last bit is just me) (also saying it's not a music genre is to make things simpler for beginners, there is a debate to have but that's for experts, believe me, what's for sure is that it's not korean pop)

I started learning about Korean entertainment when I was about 17 and I'm 32 now so it's been a long minute for me. Around 2018 I kind of slowed down on it a bit. Korea has found HUGE global success in the past few years thanks to tiktok, kpop bands and stuff like Squid Games so it has a huge fan base at this point. Any mention of Korean entertainment immediately sees an overwhelming amount of love. I'm not the biggest fan of this movie but it really is just fan service for people who know about the culture. It definitely has glaring story problems and can be very confusing for newbies but honestly, I just think it's just plain and simple fun for fans. I'm glad to hear your honesty and I know people won't fault you guys for your feelings. It's a lot to take in all at once 😂

I think this did well obviously because K-pop has a strong fan base but it’s also just a fun animated movie with great pop songs. What it tried to do it did well. I’m a big fan of Derpy the Tiger.

Super valid response. As a Korean American who stayed in touch with Korean culture through kpop, I really appreciated the references, but IMO the movie sacrificed writing (ESPECIALLY the pacing) to fit in as many references as they could.

I’ve been a K-pop fan since 2016. K-pop is literally just pop music but the lyrics are in Korean and I’m kind of surprised this is causing such a huge migration to the K-pop community because they’ve been pandering to English-speaking audiences for years. In these songs they’ve gone for about 80% English and 20% Korean when it’s usually reversed in traditional K-pop songs. The K-pop industry is pretty ruthless. As explained in the movie, they barely get breaks and work almost constantly, and they’re also referred to specifically as “idols” which emphasizes how they’re expected to present as a perfect human being with no faults. In East Asian culture it’s pretty normal to be expected to hide your insecurities, fears, shortcomings, etc. and i guess “fake it till you make it?” But unfortunately, that leads to a really high rate of suicide in teenagers and also K-pop idols. What I took away from this movie is an encouragement to young people (especially those surrounded by unrealistic expectations) to embrace your faults, your mistakes, the things you believe people will never be able to accept about you. Every single person has faults and hiding them will only isolate you.

Wanted to skip this cause I thought its not for me but HOLY SHIT WHAT WAS THIS???? I love it. Top 10 animated movies for me easily
