2025-08-27 01:52:35 +0000 UTCwith harper and ethan i think their relationship has a lot to do with something ethan refrenced earlier, mimetic desire. being reminded that his wife is not stagnant in their marrige, that she is desired and wanted especially by someone that he's had an imbalanced power dynamic with added mystery and desire back into their relationship that daphne and cameron seemed to have mastered since the beginning of their trip. ethan was reminded of what it felt like to have his power over the object of his affections threatened (college, stealing all the girls he liked) and then actually win and get it back instead. of course he wasn't going to leave her, this is like the biggest ego trip for him. and harper learns how to weaponize this desire in order to reinforce his want of her. this comes at the cost of the very open, no secrets attitude they shared at the beginning, where it would have been out of place to play even harmless mind games to spice things up because they were so serious, and it seems they slowly (de)ascended into the tug-of-war exchange of affection taught by the masters daphne and cameron, where information and has to be won or tricked out instead of given.

2025-08-17 17:42:52 +0000 UTCWhy oh why did Portia confront Jack after getting in a car alone with him!? I would have just parted ways with him in a public place and caught a cab back to the hotel. I guess fear makes you do crazy things. Def agree that I liked the characters in S1 more but this mystery had me hooked wondering who the bodies would be.
