Agree 100% It took me 3 tries to get past season 3, and I not sure if was worth it, lol. But I own ssn 1 on DVD, soundtrack vinyl, and the first couple novels about Hop & Terry Ives. Season one is some of the best TV out there, imho.

2025-08-21 02:13:30 +0000 UTCIt’s funny people say it gets better and better. I think it gets worse and worse over time. Depends on what you value out of cinema/storytelling, I guess. I think season 1 is nearly perfect season of TV. 2 is a really close second with one meh storyline, but overall still feels like a continuation of the same show. 3 is a hot mess. they sell out the concept, the tone, the character development completely and become a neon horror parody of themselves. instead of all the lived in atmosphere, it’s one on-the-nose needle drop after another. basically a jukebox musical plus really unnecessary gore. 4 has really good performances and incredible sequences, but the grounded realism is gone and the “mystery” completely jumps the shark. Some B storylines are a mess. The first season was great because it didn’t waste time. Season 4 on rewatch is so much wasted time for a few incredible moments. but we’ll see how the boys feel. I have a feeling they’ll find it all fun, but probably agree that’s it’s gotten goofy around mid season 3 and notice that the great pacing of 1&2 is gone by 4.

As a new father myself, all of the emotion you guys bring to the table as parents keeps me coming back for more. Looking forward to weeping like a baby with you on more stuff.
