2025-05-29 00:52:00 +0000 UTCIt was also influenced by Covid. He had the greenlight from HBO for a show, but then lockdown happened and he needed something that he could film in one location where cast crew and extras could all be quarantined together. So a hotel on an island became the set up.

2025-05-28 22:46:08 +0000 UTCNot sure if this has already been said, but Mike White (creator of the show) is a huge fan of Survivor, and was even a contestant on the show a few years back, before making The White Lotus. I'm pretty sure he's said in interviews that his time on the island during Survivor helped influence some aspects of White Lotus. I can definitely see the competitive and sneaky nature of these characters being similar to how people play Survivor. Also, it was just announced today that Mike White is returning to season 50 of Survivor so maybe some more inspiration for another future season??! really enjoying watching this show with you guys, I hope you continue to watch the other seasons after this one!
