And the use of jump scares in this series is refreshing because most of them aren't even things that would normally be scary (like getting into bed or turning on a light), but the use of sudden hard cuts paired with the tension they so artfully create is what causes you to jump. They aren't lazy jump scares, and it makes them so much more effective.

It is horror with a purpose, not intended to scare you just for the sake of scaring you, but as a way of telling a beautiful story, and plays an important part in underlining the tragedy of this family. After watching this series I was able to get more into horror as a medium (especially with the rest of Flanagan's work), and it remains as one of my favourite shows I've watched

It is bc of the story. The beautifully sad yet intriguing characters and their connections are the best part of this show. Flannigan is a genius. I vote you guys continue with the rest of the Flannigan universe. Yes it's scary but his stories are so worth it. I think you guys will truly appreciate his beautiful visuals and storytelling throughout all of his shows.

Also this show there's a lot that you might miss on first watch. It gets better every re-watch. For example at the very beginning the dad closes Nellie and Luke's door then checks on Shirley and when he leaves Shirley's room, the door to Nellie and Luke's room is open, which he goes to shut again. :). Also another thing to note that I'm not sure if you heard but in the car after the lawyers office Steve asks his dad, if they'll (the kids) have to live with Aunt Janet
