Production Update and New Look! 6.16.22

Hello, most coveted patrons!  

This is a short update to draw your attention to our new surroundings! If you'll look around, you'll notice a few aesthetic changes. Welcome to the East Patch: Our new umbrella underneath which lies the West Patch as it traverses the uncertain waters of pitch cycles, and our future works as they unfold. You'll also notice a fairly clear theme. We've decided that, in addition to retro animation inspiring our first and unforgettable dive into indie production, it will also be our focus in future works. It helps keep the budgets low, the style nostalgic, and the art at the heart of it all.  

Tier rewards and projects are unchanged, we've just finally embraced our footing and decided which face we're putting forward to the world. Angel Hare fits nicely into this new aesthetic, and our writing for its six-episode run is coming along handily. We're also working on turning the animation into a pilot pitch for some of the connections we made at Stareable Fest. 

This is another element to our new direction - goals! Part of why we slowed Death of the Deke to a halt is because we evaluated our goals and decided the short would not stand to prove anything that The West Patch hadn't already accomplished. We're not here to fund our own personal art adventures. That's certainly a part of it, and we'll always be storytellers and look to entertain you in creative ways, but we're also looking to take the resources you all are providing us and reach further! Sometimes that means looking at longer series we've written and decided its outside our current reach as a small team. Sometimes it means looking at untapped avenues with intrigue and delight.

One thing is certain - we would not be here, doing this now, looking this good, without all of you. So thank you Damian, Burkely, Gemini, Betty, Caleb, Brenda, Kevin, Sarah, Snowflake, Roger, David, Ghastly, Adam, John, Jacob, Steph, Seth, Zin, and Brandon. Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts. We've traveled the country to watch our animation on big screens, got our first animation commission inquiry out of the blue this week, and are setting our ambitions higher than we've ever deemed reasonable thanks to you all enabling our stories. It's unreal. We'll have new Angel Hare animation to preview to you soon, with a casting call to get some actors together set for the coming weeks, so look forward to that and as always, we'll see you next time!
