So there are a few broad ways to approach these designs, semi humanoid with a more formless shape, semi humanoid that's more defined or even going more of a monstrous\animal direction.
I think they all have their own strong points and I'm not particularly drawn in any direction just yet but it does look like the more formless path is the way most people approach it. I'll have to experiment a bit and see what works but I'd like to hear your thoughts as well!
