Seeing as there is no need for a t-pose or any kind of symmetry we need to decide what this thing will actually be doing, mainly if it's going to be more vertical or horizontal in it's final pose. I'm drawn to the more horizontal lurching forward look, like it's spotted its next victim and is going in for the kill.
That's the direction I'll start in but throw any ideas or reference at me if you have them!

The center one is actually one of the more terrifying versions I've seen. That's a good thing. :) I'd think no need for a base and go with that. So many out there look cartoonish like the bottom right version.
