First Time Watching FORREST GUMP

The hippie wearing the flag at the demonstration using the f-bomb constantly was my man, Abbie Hoffman. He, along with Jerry Rubin, were part of an amazing group called the Yippies, which they said stood for Youth International Party. The Yippies were very big at the 1968 Democratic Convention (the riot there largely giving credit to Nixon winning the presidency) by holding concerts in Chicago without permits (gasp!). Mayor Daley was ACTUALLY afraid the Yippies were going to DOSE the entirety of the Chicago area with LSD... Can you freaking imagine! Those days were CRAZY, and Abbie was too cool to fool...

OMG - You two are such babes-in-the-woods. "I wish I didn't know now what I didn't know then." - Bob Segar You knew that JFK was assassinated, but not his brother, RFK. In between, MLK was assassinated too. Talk about city riots! Today's riots don't hold a candle to what happened in the Sixties (my first decade). Gabriella - "It's a conspiracy! No, I'm kidding!" Babes. in. the. woods. A good place to start is to see what the CIA has been up to since 1953... but, since no-one reads much anymore (unless they're in school?), you can watch Oliver Stone's take on JFK's assassination in his movie called, naturally, JFK. It's based on two books, On The Trail Of Assassins the D.A. who brought an actual case in the conspiracy in 1967; and Crossfire, by Jim Marrs, who collated all that was then known about the assassination. If you want to go down that particular rabbit hole, you need to know about The Warren Commission and the report they issued in 1964. Which was then followed by books such as "Rush To Judgement" by lawyer Mark Lane. The controversy continues... Many people think this history is just "old hat" and should be ignored. That's true ignorance, imho.

Here I am now. Entertain me. Whatever. Nevermind. Regarding the "crippled" (his word, not mine) Lieutenant: there's a similar story done in 1989 by Oliver Stone called "Born On The Forth Of July," based on the true life story Vietnam veteran Ron Kovic, played by Tom Cruise. Good movie.
