His heart in a glass jar symbolised opened for all to see or revealed to her that he loved her but actually it was his mind/desires kept in a box in secret that he desired sex from her. She sees him for what he is. Or the heart in a glass jar symbolised that love is fragile and easily 💔. Him caught in love but actually in a sweet young thing will trap himself in a box, his prison of unrequited love.

The love and obsession—-Can these two lines separated clearly and distinctly? It would be very interesting if someone can do the comparison of JamJam and this episode.

There's so many interpretations on this eposide of Persona and personally this was my favorite out of 4. Torsie, if you actually dig deeper into the theories of this episode, you'll find it even more complex lol and soooo let's bring back the podcast once you learn more and other episodes too because all of them are just as mind-boggling as the other! Yes?

Two things that I know for sure: - It was inspired by the song Jam jam - There is a reference to the mythology of the sirens. Now the things that I thought by myself 😅: - In the start, I found him pitiful, but while the story went on, I think I started to blame him... Maybe, as IU is the 'protagonist', I think we are leaded to lean towards her. - The vibe is very similar to the one in some episodes of Black Mirror, so maybe the point is to feel discomfort while thinking about our (crystalized) way to perceive men, women and relationships. Anyways, every time I watch it, I slightly change my mind about everything 😅😅😅 And it's so hard to express it in English 🤦🏻‍♀️😅

This is my favorite, the first time that I saw it I didn’t like her cuz I didn’t understand it, but the second time I saw it, I thought this man is a true example of someone who just want to see want he wants to see and then I realize that it is exactly what happens when we are in love, we just create an ideal world with this person like a dream and when we wake up we start to see how this person really is. It’s not that he or she is bad, its just that we idealize them.

According to the director, this short film was inspired by Jam Jam. IU's explanation of Jam Jam was this: In a relationship, you already know the pattern. You get to meet, you fall in love, you get sick of each other, and then you break up. People who've been in relationships all know this, but they still start relationships knowing the eventual end just...because. So IU's idea for Jam Jam was "This love is so sweet, but so fake. Still, give it to me." For The Collector, I think this soulless progression of love is in motion. IU getting his heart and preserving it so it lasts long, even if it leads to his ruin, is basically what happens in the film. The question is: should we preserve something for the sake of keeping it for a long time even if it's bound to rot? :D
