IU's Homebody Signal2: Star Lyricists’ Chat Party Part 1 Reaction

Comments

This actually is a very good suggestion! I do hope she will think about it. HBB is quite a relaxing show and I loved getting to know the real Jieun and not the celebrity. It’ll be interesting how Torsie will react. Am excited to be honest!

How about The Joy Of Conversation first and then Hyori’s B&B? The Joy Of Conversation is a talk show ,and IU in episode 8 maybe. You will know more about her career !

hetty he

The Joy of Conversation is really good!!!

“The Joy Of Conversation “and”Hyori’s Bed and Breakfast “please 🙏🙏

this interview made me realize just how much appreciation these lyrics deserve bc we always get. told that IU's lyrics are amazing and one of her greatest strength but sadly never truly understand bc of our lack of korean language knowledge

Hi Torsie, one thing brought up to me is that you haven't engaged on this channel yet with IUs beginnings as Kim Eana wrote the lyrics for the first wave of really successful IU songs. All the success tastes different after the early struggles and Modern Times seems very different after the albums immediately prior. For some time in the future, the failed JYP audition is on line, the M Countdown debut where you can hear toward the end the people yelling at her to get off etc is on line, and of course the early moderate successes of the "cutsy" songs before she took off.

Hi Torsie,

Peter

my favorite IU song "every end of the day" was written by Kim Eana :)

Traditionally,a poem is used to be able to be sung by people, bcs the image is created by the most meaningful words, concise sentences, proper pronunciation in the most suitable positions, so it sounds beautiful and provokes the meanings beyond your imagination. No wonder I couldn’t quit hearing IU’s songs. Her music is so poetic. Her live performance is like a black hole which eventually will suck everyone into it. I feel like I need to lean korean to really enjoy IU’s arts.

Not everyone will agree with me on this but if hyori bed and breakfast is too long for fridays, maybe you could watch it after we finish my mister? a breathing room for her dramas maybe? unless you want to add another day for iu 😂 I love your setup for friUday here on patreon of watching stages, iu tvs, interviews and her other youtube contents.

So looking forward to Hyori's Bed and Breakfast, IU only shows up a little bit in ep1 but is regular since ep2 for season 1

Hyori's Bed and Breakfast, HECK YEAH!! If it's too long for FrIUday you can divide each episode into 2 :) oh you'll fall for LEE JI EUN even more because she was there as human Lee Jieun, not as an actress and not as IU. I'm excitedly looking forward to it <3

It is so fascinating to revisit this episode again retrospectively, considering we now know the 2 halves of the album she mentioned to have struggled with, have now manifested into Lilac and Pieces. Good call... Love how passionate she is about the creative process and keeps on learning. Always trust in IU!

Thanks as always for your very interesting considerations and also for the fantastic life experiences you share with us. This episode for me was the most beautiful and also the "worst" of Homebody Signal, because on the one hand I loved the passion with which they discussed the lyrics (that for me are the most interesting aspect of every song), but from the other hand I felt the weight of the awareness of not being able to grasp more than 30% (to exaggerate) of IU's songs. On Youtube I came across a channel that teaches Korean and it used "Love Poem" in one of the lessons, and even just the "grammar" analysis made me understand how many thoughts and how many choices there are behind each song. IU is truly a genius for me. I guess it's mostly a natural gift, but it always surprises me how the first time I listened to one of her songs (Bbibbi), even without having the slightest knowledge of Korean, I immediately appreciated the lyrics for the content (translated), but above all for the musicality of the words, which immediately made me think of the great Italian poets between the 19th and 20th centuries.

Chiara

Torsie, I wait for your reaction on this chapter for a long time! Yeah !
