Actually them ending abruptly like that was do to Taemins fans. It’s a whole “Shawols don’t speak of this” kind of thing that has been just another unfortunate thing to happen to one of the members in our SHINee history. It’s also stupid, but the reason it was not talked about cause it would always start fights and frustrating hate amongst the fandom. Basically, remember when they went on their school uniform shopping date?! It started there, actually before cause Shawols back then were very selfish but it started when they made everyone’s love of our lives maknae Taemin in that show. It sounds stupid cause it is but I guess they thought his popularity would have positive results, not bad fan toxicity. So everyone was already against Taemin going on that show and that they stuck him with a “nobody idol” like Naeun. And so yeah they’re school uniform date, remember all those people that were growing bigger and were crowding Taemin and her, so Taemin said he heard what they were saying. If you look you see it on his face and it was throughout that whole time they were walking. Calling Naeun a slut; tramp a lot of nasty things. And that was already bad. Then when Taemin made her cry, and it wasn’t sympathy for her.. so on its said and I guess you can hear it. She’s crying when she’s alone with that black background saying “how can he be like this?..” or something like that but before they cut to next scene you here the camera man in the background say “cause he’s an asshole “ and then rumors of the camera man after shooting that episode approached Taemin to tell him off, which I doubt. It was just bad Shawols trying to make lame excuses to justify their horrible behavior. But yeah you can hear the cameraman call him a name on camera. So Shawols in Korea protested send daily letters to take Taemin off show. And they got their way. That’s why they got that letter abruptly.

If you are considering it, Some suggestion: Hong Jong-hyun & Girl's Day's Yura (Ep 223-262) Song Jae-rim & Kim So-eun (Ep 238-275) (these 2 could be one of the most popular in the show) BtoB's Yook Sung-jae & Red Velvet's Joy (Ep 276-320) (they started this at the same(?) age as Taemin and Nauen if I remember correctly) Kwak Si-yang & Kim So-yeon (Ep 287-316) (This is one of my personal fav) Eric Nam & Mamamoo's Solar (Ep 316-348)

2023-01-19 16:25:47 +0000 UTCthe last episodes is always sad and sudden, guess i have seen so many of the show that it is expected. However, I hope they had taken some positive stuff out of the time together. Personally, I think they really had some feelings for each other since it is hard not to. (I do wonder if the ending is decided by the show producer or their company) I really doubt the show will be revived. With the fandoms nowadays. And the various actual dating variety shows in Korea featuring non celebrities. (where they actually date after)

2023-01-19 16:22:18 +0000 UTCWhen first became a Shawol, not that long ago, senior Shawols showed me part of the ending clip. It made me angry to think that Taemin and Naeun were so young and for a job they had their emotions toyed with in a "dating' show for adults. And then ending abruptly without being able to process their feelings! (Im not a fan of reality shows for that reason.) I was told they ended the show because Naeun was receiving so much hate mail from super toxic fans (mean comments, threats). It seems like their companies kept that information from them, at least in this episode, but they pulled the plug before the viciousness tarnished their reputations. I understand they were never seen together in public after that, which is sad because they should have been able to remain friends. Taemin has a lot of female friends at SM but maybe it wasn't possible because she was from a different company and they couldn't control the narrative? (Also, not possible in Korea without dating rumors surfacing, etc.) Although they only saw each other as scripted, Im glad they were able to part with positive experiences. Anyway, I'm glad I watched the series with you, Tors1e, because it was very traumatic to see a clip of this episode out of context a year or so ago. Enjoy your day 💜

Right after it ended, they both had fans that kept bringing it up and hassling them over it so avoiding the topic entirely seemed to be the tactic for avoiding uncomfortable questions. This was also the time that Taemin was really starting to prepare for his solo debut, so naturally he would have wanted to avoid that being overshadowed by dating rumors. I hope they still talk and have stayed in contact, but if they did, they are very good at keeping it a secret 🥲

In an interview with Apink, Naeun was asked to share what she kept in her wallet. She took out the same wallet she had been using on WGM - this was at least a couple years later iirc. She listed the stuff she had, including a couple polaroid photos, and the other members peaked inside and reacted with shock like “you still have those?? you absolutely can’t show those to the camera, you’ll start a scandal!” My poor heart wants to think that she had still kept the photos she and Taem took together in her wallet 😭)

2022-04-02 16:23:30 +0000 UTCAs for whether they ever saw each other again after the show… well, let me put on my WGM stan/TaEun shipper glasses LMAO So shortly after the conclusion on filming, Shinee had a one-day solo concert (“The Wizard”) and Naeun was reportedly seen by fans in the audience. Naeun also continued wearing the rosary bracelet Taemin gave her for several years after the show ended. Getting less concrete with the “evidence”… there’s some very interesting, if slightly cringy, compilations of their interactions over the years since the show. They’ve never directly interacted on camera at all since finishing WGM, but fancams have spotted some sneaky behavior at award shows and music show encore stages and whatnot, so who knows if they might be friendlier off camera.

There was definitelyyyy criticism about how the show ended the relationships 😬 I think they both must have known they were coming close to the end, but not known the exact day. So mean to spring it on them without warning.
