Bonus #171 - Bridge to Schizophrenia w/ Christina P

I know Tim will never read this and it doesn’t really matter since she’s dead, but for anyone who’s got a schizophrenic parent: know that they CAN get better. My mother was institutionalized twice before she got on a program and “rebuilt her brain” over time. She went from like 8 different meds down to 1 after coming back home with us and she just turned 74. That thing he said about “the person who was my mother isn’t really there anymore” I totally related. I felt like the illness was so severe and circumstances so dire that I buried my mother, but she came back to life, back to the person she once was, and it’s because so many people helped get her back on track. I’m really sad that Tim didn’t have any hope of her ever recovering. My mom Definitely did become herself again. Life in the big city (LA)

Found this episode and so glad I did. My mom and as of 2021 my sister are diagnosed schizophrenics. Lots of ups and downs but this made me laugh and feel totally valid
