KPop Demon Hunters | MOVIE REACTION

This movie was a 10/10

I understand the hype now

Comments

they referenced a lot of korean culture from the tiger bird to their weapons, all are like culture lore inspired beings and items, a lot of the cultural stuff are used too like pendants that drive away demon icons and shapes etc. it's really a movie with a lot of heart not just kpop details but like korean culture in general!

I wasn't sure you'd react to this, i thought it was gonna be dumb but I really think its one of the best animated films of the year if not just in general

I didn't intend to watch it just by looking at the title, but after watching it, I found it quite interesting. Like a modern Disney that properly mixes Korean culture and K-pop culture. Of course, the song is the best. I also thought of Illit Yoona when I saw Mira. Haha And Zoey is very cute. (I think it would go well if IVE covered Huntrix songs and LSF covered Saja Boys songs.) I also thought the joint fan signing event was strange. It was originally an 'Idol Star Athletics Championships'. However, I heard that the higher-ups in the production team didn't understand why idols would have a sports day, so they changed it to a joint fan signing event.

soha

It's shame that Saja boys can't make comeback anymore lol

song

Rumi - Blackpink Jennie Mira - Itzy Yeji Zoey - Twice Chaeyoung Jinu - Cha Eunwoo Baby saja - Bts Suga Don't know the rest

song

One last thing....not sure if you got it from the credits but the voice actors were pretty cool Gwi-Ma: voiced by Lee Byung Hun (the front man in Squid Game) Celine: Yunjin Kim who was in Lost the quack doctor: Daniel Dae Kim who was also in Lost (so nice little reunion with Yunjin Kim where they played a married couple) Bobby: Ken Jeong

the tiger (his name is Derpy) and the magpie is based off of traditional korean folk art from the 1600s called Jakhodo. The tiger and magpie was a very common theme in traditional folk art bc the tiger represented the aristocracy and purposely made to look ridiculous with those huge cross eyes and misaligned teeth while the magpie which represented the people was always drawn looking graceful and dignified. Here's a good example of one of those paintings https://a.1stdibscdn.com/large-framed-antique-korean-jakhodo-minhwa-folk-art-painting-for-sale/f_9450/f_387186421710448011682/f_38718642_1710448012405_bg_processed.jpg?disable=upscale&auto=webp&quality=60&width=700

and the meet/cute song that played when Jinu bumped into Rumi is 'Love, Maybe' by Melomance. It wasn't written for this movie, the reason they used it is bc the voice actor for Jinu is the korean-canadien actor Ahn Hyo Seop who was in a kdrama called 'Business Proposal' with Sejeong from IOI/Gugudan. It's the same song that played when their characters met in Business Proposal.....sort of an homage/kdrama easter egg for fans

The singing voice for Rumi is Ejae. Former SM trainee turn song writer. She wrote Psycho and songs for Aespa, Nmixx, etc. Also check out Rei Ami on Tiktok. She is the singing voice for Zoey. She's a little wild haha. Reminds me of Bibi

so the singing voices and speaking voices are different for each character. The singing voice for Rumi is a singer/songwriter/producer named EJAE. She's a former SM trainee who trained alongside all the Girls Generation girls but then left, went to NYU, and became a songwriter/producer. She's sang backing vocals on DOZENS and DOZENS of kpop songs and she's written/produced quite a bit including Red Velvet 'Psycho' and Aespa 'Drama'. For this soundtrack (in addition to singing) she did the vocal arranging for Golden and another one of the songs They got a who's who of kpop producers for this. The Black Label (Teddy, Kush, 24, etc etc), some mainstay HYBE producers like Lindgren and others (including the person who produced BTS 'Butter') and a couple of people who have produced for Twice (obviously) There's a reason why Golden and Your idol have been swapping the #1 spot on Spotify and Billboard ever since the movie was released
