Here's a little look behind the scenes on the upcoming chapter 3 of my vore comic, Marve: A Life Consumed!
This chapter turned out to require a lot of perspective work, which has been fun to do! As I've mentioned in an earlier post, I decided midway through chapter 2 that I wanted to draw all my backgrounds in ink myself, as opposed to tracing over a 3D model. It takes a lot longer, but I think the results are vastly superior, and looks a lot more cohesive with the character illustrations. I do, however, use 3D models as reference so I can still stay accurate! It mainly just affects how I render the illustrations.
You can see I use a lot of coloured pencils. This is so I never have to erase the pencil lines, which can actually also erase parts of the inks. (Plus erasing a bunch just sucks, and I keep accidentally crumbling the paper in the process. ๐ฅฒ) When I scan the page to Photoshop, I can just remove the pencils with a black & white filter that targets whatever colour I used and turns it white.
When drawing in perspective, I have to use different colours in order to easily distinguish which lines go to which vanishing points. However, I have to use colours of a similar hue, because if I use, for example, red and green together, then wherever the colours overlap, they turn basically grey, which makes them impossible to remove with just the black & white filter, and instead requires a bunch of manual erasing anyway.
You also get a glimpse at the new prey for this chapter! I'm really excited to tell their story, and hope you'll find them engaging too!
Lastly, I just wanted to show that there will be another two-page spread in this chapter! If you're curious, during chapter 1 & 2 I taped two sheets of A4 paper together, and this time I just used a single A3 sheet, and measured out where the middle is. Even though this is posted digitally, I always like to work as if it'd be a printed book, so it's important to know where the bleeds will be! It actually turned out using two A4 sheets was easier for me, because I had to cut the A3 in half anyway to scan it and store it in my folder.
