This is the central part of this chapter: Marve meeting up with his friends. I always wanted this comic to have slower moments like these, that have effectively no focus on the fetish aspects, and so I thought it made sense to just go all-out on that as early as possible. Start chapter 1 with a bang to show that there will be vore and hot stuff, then slow things to a halt in chapter 2 to show that Marve is a character with a life of his own, totally seperate from his vore streams.
This scene is obviously the one that most clearly shows the direction I planned to take it initially. I had planned for Espen and the others to get really into this MTG-like card game, and for Marve to feel out of the loop by not really understanding the game. I do think this would serve the right emotional purpose, but it required focusing a bit too much on the actual game, and I didn't want it to seem like the game itself was actually important. What's important in this scene, is that Marve's friends are getting into stuff without him, and it's making him feel disconnected from them.
022102 - This was gonna have another brief flashback to one of Marve's prey, but I dropped it to avoid redundancy. This sketch also gives Marve's belly a bit of focus that, admitedly, I maybe should've kept in. But this scene was getting a tad long, and in the end I couldn't find a great place to fit it in.
022501 - The end of the first draft also shows a late change. What was initially supposed to be chapter 3 has now been moved to a later point in the story. As such, the preview of the upcoming prey changed as well. So, at some point in the future of this story, you'll see someone with a big, black nose whose name starts with a J! Exciting, I know.
Introducing Espen and the gang was kinda tricky. I knew I wanted to introduce Espen seperately before the others, as he's the one Marve feels closest to. I also eventually got the idea for the double-page spread upon entering Espen's flat and seeing the other two guys, which meant that the scene leading up to that moment had to end on a right-side page. Finding a way to do this without either rushing too fast, or dragging on for too long, was really difficult!
Lastly, I have to say, I deeply regret writing a scene with a table full of taco stuff. Holy moly was that annoying to draw lol
