Bulges

As I'm working on Marve chapter 3, I'm growing really insecure about my vore bellies. So I'm trying to practice and hone in on how exactly I like to draw them!

What I've done is I've looked at reference images of fat guys, sketched them out as they are, and then attempted to put prey inside - for lack of a better phrase. I've found that it's a little easier for me to draw a regular belly first, and then figure out how it'd look with prey, as it gives me more of an idea for the changes the belly necessarily must go through to accomodate. It shows me where it might stretch the most, for example, and how exactly the prey fits inside.

Honestly, I'm not very happy with any of these sketches. But I think it can be important to show and acknowledge the challenges you face in art. Here, I'm struggling with how to render the bulges without colour. I obviously love cross hatching, but I don't wanna overdo it either, such as the bottom left sketch. But doing too little can make it boring, and unclear if it's really a vore belly or just a fat one.
