Added 2022-12-15 10:43:21 +0000 UTCHey there, this is what I got so far for Nezuko. Demon Slayer models, like last time has a lot of bones. This was worse though.
If you seen other Nezuko models on Steam workshop you seen that it's been cut up in parts and you'll have to put them together.
That is because sfm has a bone limit
This Nezuko model has 626 bones!
Rather than cutting up the model and make other people deal with all these bones I wanted to try to simplify the bone count.
It's gonna be less flowing but more user-friendly.
So first off I selected the bones for the hair and move them to another layer.
Did that for every part that has a bunch of bones.
There is 155 bones to control the hair. Almost all the hair strands have line of bones to control it.
With the Vertex Weight Mix Modifier I used it on every other bone and see how much I can get rid of.
I got down to 57 bones and kept some of the bottom ends for extra details or incase I need to delete more bones.
The hair is control in separate groups. Hair back middle, Hair back left, Hair back right, Hair side left, Hair side right, and Hair front left Hair front right.
next up her coat with 84 bones.
Got it down to 38. If I need to I'll get rid of the front bone groups.
After that, the dress with 67 bones. The arm sleeves were not part of the model but I can reuse the coat arms and change the textures.
After some editing I got it down to 28 bones. Hopefully I wont have to delete any more of these.
Next part was the hardest for me the face. I didn't see how many I started with but before that.
I did the face shape keys first.
After that I got rid of the eye bones. If I need to I'll get rid of the eyebrows bones.
I went from a rig that had 626 bones...
...to 231!
That is about it. All that bone stuff took up a lot of my time. Next part is attaching the new body combining rigs and adding extra outfit.
In the mean time I was also working on this commission which will be coming this month.
