2022-12-30 18:53:50 +0000 UTCRewatching this episode was very interesting. Kenpachi told Ikakku that he was lucky for surviving his battle against Kenpachi. Do you remember that during Ikakku's first battle with Ichigo he kept saying he was lucky to have Ichigo as his opponent? Even at the end of this episode, he said he was lucky. It seems that he took Kenpachi's words to heart here. The next thing I noticed, Ikakku told Renji that you give your name to the person you intend to kill/defeat. Back when Renji first met Ichigo and (Uryu?) he parrotted that saying even as far back as that. I wonder if Ikakku influenced Renii even as far back as this? I completely missed this on my first watch and re-watch too. Really interesting stuff!
