Belphegor is summoned when a mortal makes a wish fueled by indolence, apathy, or torpor. He feeds on the wasted dreams of humans when they are careless, procrastinate, and avoid effort. Those whose laziness has resulted in the suffering of others are damned by Belphegor and condemned to spend eternity in his icy domain where they are frozen into statues, yet kept alive in an eternal sleep that provides no rest, but only allows them to dream of hopes and wishes they will never attain.
