Yep, it's still going lol this is something that defines the 500s, I feel. Who knows that drove TMS to do it this way, but yeah, there's episode arcs that are connected, yet do not share the same title. So, if you see a canon episode that looks to be a standalone, you will have to go into it fully expecting it to be a multi-parter.

After this, cases with Heiji starts with a normal case (of 2 episodes) followed by a big case of multiple episodes. It's the same with the Black Organisation episodes. What I mean : if you see a 1 part cannon episode, 95% of the time it will be followed by a multiple parts (generally 4 episodes) case.
