WIP - Seika's New Scene - Why giving up is easy AND fun

Was working on Seika's scene and wanted to ramble a bit about why I hate blowjobs and when to give up on an idea.

Okay, I don't hate blowjobs, but I don't like drawing them, at least in the WW style. Because there's really only two ways I know how to do it. You have your POV shot, like Ayako's scene.

 And then you have your profile shot like Sandy's scene.

 That's basically the only two options. I've tried my hardest to do other angles, but I need more practice figuring out how to get it to look right.

I've started a count of how many of each type of scene there is, and I'm working on balancing it out a bit. There's a lack of BJs, so I was glad that Seika's next scene was planned to be a BJ.

But it did not go well.

Here's where it was when I decided to move on.

 And then here's the reference so you know what I was going for.

I wanted to do more of a slight 3/4 view, to add some depth, but it just doesn't really work. When I tried to do it accurately, it looks like profile, but just horribly wrong. The lips clash with the rest of the face and the nose looks like it's sort of pasted on in a weird spot. Basically, it ends up being simplified to the point where it doesn't make sense. At least, that's how it is for me for now. I'm definitely still learning how to work in this style, so maybe one day I'll figure it out. I'll probably stick to just variations of profile and pov for now though. Imo, pov vacuum BJs are the best anyway. In the current BJ scenes, I've really had to restrain myself from going full anteater like artists like Fellatrix lol.

Anyway, I had worked on that sketch for a good 2 hours and it just wasn't looking right. I wanted to figure out out to make it work, but at a certain point, it's best to just give up and move on. Messing with it more would have only led to a lot more wasted time, and I know that it wouldn't have turned out quite right. I could have kept working through it and maybe eventually got to the point where it was better, but it just wouldn't have been worth the time. I could have easily spent a good 10 hours messing with the sketch alone, and that's just not an effective use of time. So instead, I just scrapped it and moved on to the next scene idea.

Which is something that a lot of artists don't do, and it's one of the most common mistakes an artist can make. Being too attached to an idea and constantly trying to force it only leads to longer time spent on a project, and can very easily lead to a bad end product. Especially when it comes to game dev, it's really just going to increase dev time and lead to either smaller and more disappointing updates for stuff like adult games, or in the case of normal game dev, having to cut costs elsewhere. Which just leads to something else having to be rushed and lower quality. In either case, just giving up on an idea and moving on is the best way to go. This is why it's always good to have multiple ideas before starting something. If one ends up not working out the way you had planned, you can simply move on to the next one.

Since her first scene is a TJ, it wouldn't make sense for the next scene to go sort of backwards and be an HJ. So that was off the table. Seika also wouldn't want to risk getting pregnant for a gift like this, it wouldn't be worth it to her. So I decided to do anal. That was what was planned to be the third scene. I can easily rework the scenes to make sure she doesn't lose anything though. I can just make the next scene normal sex with a condom, then another sex scene with a condom, then a raw one. I originally wanted TJ, BJ, anal, condom, then raw. But ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

That's why it's important to be flexible, not get too attached to ideas, and have multiple ideas as backup. Being able to quickly adjust means being able to stay on schedule.

Anyway, here's the anal sketch.

 I'm still working on it, but this is where it's at right now. Since she's gyaru, she's performing a bit. Which is why I had to do the peace sign and ahegao face. The plan for later scenes is for her to basically drop the act as she starts to just enjoy it so much that she doesn't think about the performance part.

For this scene, I also wanted to try and include a foot for people who like that. I'm not into it, so there probably wont be anything like a full footjob scene anywhere in the game, but I'll try to at least sprinkle some bare feet in. Personally, I would much prefer heels if I'm going to include a foot in a scene. I think heels are super sexy, but I know that it wouldn't make sense for literally every character to always be wearing heels. So I figure I'll add in some feet fanservice sometimes. I've said it before and I'm sure I'll say it again, I want the game to have variety. I want characters and scenes to feel more unique. Adding in scenes like this with bare feet is another way of ensuring some variety.

Although, I realized after posting Rinko that she has basically the exact same pose as Angela. Which is kind of a problem. I figured I'd end up doing similar poses eventually, but I thought it would take longer. I'm probably going to start doing some more dynamic poses for character artwork because of it. Maybe have some more women closer, bending over, turned around, that kind of thing. There's really only so many ways a person can stand. I know the expectation for character CG is for them to be just kind of standing, but I may end up changing that a bit in the interest of variety. If I'm able to complete the game the way I envision it, there's going to be well over 100 women in the game, and I want them all to feel at least somewhat unique. Admittedly, it will get easier as I start moving on to more themed areas. Like if you're in the gym and find a volleyball player, they can be holding a volleyball, a scientist in the lab can be holding a clipboard or have her hands in her jacket pockets, that kind of thing.

Anyway, that's enough rambling for now. I hope you enjoyed the sketches and can understand why it's sometimes best to drop ideas and move on. I hope you look forward to seeing Seika's new scene in v0.1.3!
