WIP - Unused Scene - Tan Alicia

For this WIP I thought it would be fun to show off a tan variation I had considered using for Alicia. If you don't want to listen to me ramble, here it is.

As you can see, same scene, but now Alicia is tan. I had considered making scenes for all of the "Beach Babes" alternate between Tan and normal. As a way to show that hanging out on the beach has given them a tan, but ultimately decided against it. Mainly because if people didn't like the tan version, or if they liked the tan version more, they would have to seduce Alicia twice in order to get it. Which would more than likely end up being annoying. Alicia isn't a particularly easy character to seduce early on, and if you do beat her once, you may need to go back home to rest before being able to beat her again and unlock the scene you want. The whole thing just sounded annoying.

I had also considered making it random if a character appears tan or not, but again, I didn't want people to be locked out of the version of the scene they wanted. Being random, you'd have to check to see if it's the version you want, and when it's not, go home and sleep, then go back out to the beach to check again. You could end up with the version you don't want multiple times in a row, and that's just a recipe for frustration and annoyance. Even if I put it on a rotation instead of making it random, you'd still have the possibility of going to the beach, having it not be the right version, then having to go home and rest, and no one wants to do that. Having it as random or on a rotation means that when you first meet the character, they may not look the way you would prefer either. Maybe you like tan characters, but you show up and it's the pale version. Then that character just gets dismissed, since they may think they're just pale.

I also considered making it a choice, but didn't really like that. It just feels weird to be like, "are they tan?" I'm certainly not going for realism in Waifu Wonderland, but the world does have it's own defined set of rules. People switching skin colors just doesn't make any sense, even in the WW world.

The closest I've come up with is basically having a "tanner" and "sunblock" item, and having it function the way it does in the DOAX series. You give them the "tanner" item, and they turn tan, give them "sunblock" and they turn paler. The biggest problem here is that it's adding another item you need money for, and would also require a lot of programming. I would have to completely rework the scene to account for these items. You'd also have to beat her at least once before unlocking the tan version, since otherwise, why would she let you put lotion on her, or at the very least, accept the gift? It's a lot of work for just a variation scene and I'm trying to keep money items to a minimum, at least until the office storyline is introduced and you can more easily make money. If it was quick and easy to implement a tan version, then I would have done it, but it's just too much work and not worth the time being taken away from a new character, scene, or storyline.

The whole thing was just kind of a mess.

So I decided to just scrap the tan versions idea. Unless I suddenly come up with a way to implement them in a way that makes sense and would be easy to implement.

For now though, I thought I'd share the artwork that I did make though. I hope you like it!
