Meet Almiranda the Demoness!

This week is Almiranda. She's the first of the characters you have to seduce for the lab storyline.  I'll talk a little bit more about that in a second, but first, Almiranda's description and artwork.


Almiranda is a Demon queen from another dimension. You somehow stumble into her castle without realizing it, and she initially wants to kill you for trespassing. But if you can seduce her, she'll spare you as long as you continue to pleasure her.



Like I mentioned before, Almiranda is the first character in the lab storyline. Basically, there's a lab nearby that is doing experiments and needs subjects to test out a new device that's supposed to be able to create portals to other dimensions. It's completely untested and still fairly early in development, so there's not telling what will happen. But they'll pay, so you can volunteer. 


Something to note about the lab storyline, is that it's the only place you can get an actual game over right now. I want the game to be fairly relaxed, and getting a game over by failing to seduce someone felt like it would just be annoying. So instead, you just lose the battle and get bumped back out with 1hp for most battles. But since you're in other dimensions confronting demons like Almiranda, it made more sense to have a game over. Since she's supposed to kill you if you lose, it wouldn't make sense to be kicked out of the fight with 1hp. I do add a warning that this will happen before you go in, but it's still something I wanted to mention here.


Initially, I was going to do full dungeons for each of the women in the lab experiments, but ultimately decided against it. For a few reasons. The biggest being that it wouldn't make any sense. Since battles aren't really battles in this game, having a dungeon where you go around finding random enemies wouldn't make any sense. It could have been that the random enemies are actually women that you seduce and can sleep with, but I've played games that do that, and it gets real old real fast fighting the same enemies and seeing the same scenes over and over. The enemies in the dungeons would need to be themed to the boss, but lesser, and I don't want to make any throwaway designs like that. On top of all of that, having a dungeon means a constant stream of enemies to fight, which would break the game. Either the enemies give exp and make it too easy to level, or they don't give any exp/give so little it doesn't matter. Which would make the battles feel like a chore and a waste of time. At the very least, random battles should have some kind of reward, so even going the no exp route, they would need to give money. Which again would break the game since you can pay for exp with characters like Sandy. 

Then the last possibility was just having an empty dungeon with maybe a puzzle to do. I had heavily considered this, but I thought it would break the flow of the game too much. It personally annoys me when adult games force you into long periods without at least the option to do sex scenes. That's the whole point of an adult game, so being forced into a section where you just can't do that always sucks. So I didn't want to do that. 

Instead, when you enter a portal, you enter a space where you can't comprehend what's around you, and it just looks like a room in the lab. But you're actually navigating another dimension. Your body is sort of in flux and can only interact and fully move into the other dimension in certain spots, which is where the boss women are. I thought this was a good way to do it. You don't always know exactly where they are, but you can find them fairly quickly. You can also choose to leave at any time, so you're never completely stuck.


Almiranda's Inspiration - 

Almiranda was inspired by a character named Almiranda. Shocking, I know. The original character is from a game called Venus Blood Hypno. Admittedly, I've never actually played it. I found Almiranda when looking for succubus types on a booru site. Anyway, I changed quite a bit, but kept a lot of the design elements from the original. Such as the gloves and thigh highs. The original had tan skin and was a bit more demonic looking, and I decided to make her paler and more human. I like humanoid monster girls, but the more monster-like or demonic they get, the less I'm into them. I like the types that are more like sexy Halloween costumes than anything, so that's what I went with here. I do like unnatural skin colors, but that's kind of the extent of what I like. So that's likely as intense as the non-human women will get.
