Heiji lives in Osaka not US, which is around 2 hours and 30 minutes on the bullet train. Jodie lives in Tokyo.

So some clarifications:
for English speakers, when she asks '"you are not just a mere boy. are you?", if you want to say that you are just a mere boy, nothing special, you will reply "Yes", and in this context, it means "Yes, I'm just a normal boy" or "No, I'm nothing special"
But in a Japanese person's mind, they will just say "No" to indicate that what she said is not the case, and want to deny her insinuation.
