Hi folks, ☀️
i hope you are doing good!
I am super escited, because tomorrow (i am writing this text on Wednesday, October 5th 2022) the DEMO Festival! Yay! In the afternoon I will give my talk and since the whole thing won't be broadcast on the net, I thought it would be a good idea to share a recording/rehearsal of it on Patreon this week.
In the keynote, which lasts about 15 minutes, I'll talk about the demoscene, an art movement that emerged in the late 1980s and was dealing with creative expression with code as a tool in the context of motion graphics. There are some parallels to today's understanding of creative coding and I draw connections between these two cultures. I also highlight a perspective on computer art that Frieder Nake has often mentioned and that Georg Trogemann brought to my attention. Nake has described computer art as having two parts. In his view, there is an subface and a surface. You can find out what this is all about in the video.
I wish you a great week!
All the best, 🌈
Tim
