Amber - Character WIP (1/???)

This probably doesn't seem like much ATM, probably because it isn't...

Still, "first steps" and all that stuff.

This is basically just a simple IK + twist rig for a character limb. I was kinda curious to poke some of Houdini's IK tools, which... thus far have been a rather interesting experience. At first I was rather annoyed at how differently Houdini does things compared to C4D, but then I started to realize there's absolutely nothing stopping me from recreating a lot of that stuff if I wanted to (which I don't, because there's better ways of handling everything when you have full control over the rigging pipeline).

Anyways, yeah.

I suspect the full rig is probably going to take some time and effort to pull together, but I don't really see anything in Houdini that's going "no you can't do that". It's different, but I'm already seeing a lot of ways to reduce the rig complexity and skeleton stuff (there were over 700 objects making up a single character rig in C4D, and it was a real pain in the ass to try and maintain that much stuff). I dunno how much of a point there is to work on that stuff without a body to bind it to though, so I'm probably going to get to work on the initial version of the body mesh first before I continue with the rigging (just so I have something to match the skeleton to and test out things as I'm working on them).

Unfortunately I don't know how much I'm going to be around for the next couple of days- we're in the middle of another heatwave here and it's pretty hard to run my computers in this heat (the computers don't care, but being in the same room as a 165w space heater when the ambient temperature is already 32*C isn't very fun). Supposedly the temperatures are supposed to start dropping Monday, so I'm probably just going to take the weekend off and get back to work then.
