This is a bit of an obscure one-off.
It was done as a render test for a Jessica Rabbit-inspired "cosplay", though the project it's for (which I'll be posting more details about in the future) landed up taking another direction.
Likewise, this was also a bit of an experiment to see if I could clone actual sequin geometry across a surface inside C4D, since shader-based methods don't really work that well with distorted geometry like this (with a texture based method, the sequins would appear larger around the bust than they would around the waist due to the absurdly massive proportions involved). It kinda worked, but it involved a lot of hand work and some really nasty hacks with the hair module and mograph cloners... just another reason to switch to Houdini, I suppose- since something like this would be fairly trivial to pull off over there.
Anyways, yeah. Prototype renders and such. I'll probably be revisiting this in the future once I get everything rebuilt in Houdini, since it is an effect that I'm rather fond of and I think it'd look pretty spectacular when done right.
