Tssth... Krr... Bleep!
Conceptual Insight Function: [ACTIVE]
Kelik came about as not necessarily the antithesis of Shade, but close. I wanted to write a character that fitted perfectly in the sort-of Neolithic era in which Wandering Shade is set in. However, his psyche would grow parallel to that, which I'm very excited to explore and showcase in our comic with MISSMAJORED! Below is MISSMAJORED's thoughts on Kelik...
From Miguelβs written description of the Ashen Tusk clan as a brutish people living in a desolate, barren land, I envisioned Kelik to be something similar: a strong figure, with an imposing silhouette and design elements from Viking age clothing and personal affects, but with a bit of pop of a bright red to add some contrast both in colour ways, as well as aesthetic. While most of his clothing is of natural origin and crude construction, little pops of colourful rope make him stand out from the rest of his brethren, and symbolically tie him to our protagonist, Shade.
His colour palette is an expanse of dust-grays, earthen browns, and aged bone-skin - a jarring and beautiful contrast to Shadeβs flora-themed palette of greens, blues, and warm skin tones influenced by Deeβs artistic direction!
Kelik bears the burns, rope and blade scars from years of brutal training, hunting, and secret community rituals yet to be revealed in our project. He has a masculine, slightly gruff yet approachable face that is easily fawned over - which we canβt wait for you see develop on the page!
The script is finally concluded and we are confidently moving on with working on the pages: we honestly can't wait to show you this project...
Also, there is a nude-version of this concept art for our Surge Differentiators and tiers above. π
