Whispers from the Writing Nook
Added 2025-04-06 16:15:16 +0000 UTCOn Friday of this week, I worked on Meow, and it was magical. While I didn’t get a ton of episodes done, I wrote three, and they are amazing. I sunk into the flow and knew exactly what I was going to write this week. I can’t wait for everyone to get to this part!
April is a crazy month for me between spring finally starting in the PNW and an in-person event, Norwescon. If you live in the Seattle area and are going to the convention, you’ll be able to find me in the Dealers Den, running a bookshop, of all things.
It’s a labor of love, and it brings me so much joy. It’s much better than my other retail experience from a shop that shall not be named. Those old days get woken into Meow including an episode I know people didn’t like with the customer hitting on Sable. If you’ve worked retail, you’ve been there. Sable dealt with it like the queen she is.
Next week, I want to get a few more episodes written, then circle back to book one once I am fully in the correct headspace. Revisiting episodes I wrote over two years ago is going to be an adventure but one I will do. I want the paperback version of Meow to be the best it can be. If you’ve left comments over the last two years, I will use those to correct some rough, chunky sentences and grammar. Plus, there are a few areas I’ve always wanted to circle back to.
After I get through all of Volume One, I will send it off to an editor to put a final polish on it. I am on the lookout for one right now that gets the cozy vibes. If you know someone who does editing in the cozy genre, let me know!
This morning we had bacon with our eggs as our Sunday morning treat and I’m sipping on some apple maple tea.
May your days be filled with warm tea and even warmer stories.
