Kings of Nowhere Vol. 1 Variant Cover
Added 2021-08-28 17:57:09 +0000 UTCAs I prepare to launch the Volume 2 kickstarter, I have plans to introduce some new cool things, such as a variant cover to Volume 1.
I spent a while trying to figure out an idea for the cover, but only once I started listening to some hardcore final fantasy rock music did I get an idea for the sketch.
First the body, and then the clothing. It's the best way to make sure the clothing is actually sitting atop a believable body.
Then comes the wavy, buttery smooth linework. I used the volume 1 comic brush.
Flat colors. I was digging a sage green backdrop. Yellow and purple fit well with it.
Simple shadows on a multiply layer.
Overlay lighting and rim lighting.
Added some noise and splatter for texture.
And voila, a sick ass cover.
