SSJ4 Hyper God Mode Step by Step

Before I begin any piece, I figure out what I'm going to draw. This is when I prefer pencil and paper.

I had been thinking of his look for a bit, so when it came time to draw, it was relatively simple. I wanted to draw him in a strong, aggressive, and very Wukong like stance.

Like I've said before. Roughs should be clean. Messy roughs just cause mistakes later on. I like to draw my characters nude first. Proportions stay accurate this way.

I add clothes over the muscles. This helps me understand folds much better.

Lines generally take the longest. I make sure my stuff comes out clean but loose. It took a long time getting to this point, but we got here. If your rough work still holds energy and you are competent with line work, you'll get here too.

Next up is flat colors. Simple enough, right? Since I have so many warm reds and oranges, I warmed up my blue to be more gray, thus neutral. This way it doesn't fight my warm colors.

Simplest way to shade is using multiply layers. A light greyish blue was used here. I add a second multiply layer on top to add more depth. I used the pastel brush I just released to color this.

Using either a soft light or overlay layer, add lights and highlights. You can go over on a normal layer to nitpick some aspects.

Next up is color balancing the image. It's one of my favorite steps. You can play around to see what color combination speaks to you.

Finally, I added a simple background. I just wanted to contrast his warm reds with a slightly cooler color, so I went with blue.

It all just started with a thought while walking my dog. I got myself so excited that I wanted to come home and see how SSJ4 would look like with a greater emphasis on his monkey side. Anyways, I hope y'all enjoyed this little walkthrough. Peace!

When you add the multiply layer, is it the same grayish blue layer you used before just duplicated? Sorry just a little confused lol
