Creating a Figurine

As some of you may already know, I teamed up with Level52 Studio to create a collector's statue. Little did I know how much goes into the planning of such a thing. My initial drawing above was the concept for the statue. The first issue that they faced was that Bili on the traffic light was going to be too heavy for the lightpole, and he would most definitely snap off. I needed stronger points of contact. So I redid it.

This time I had Bili making direct contact with the light pole. Nothing dainty that would be at risk of breaking. I added a base in the shape of a crown to further the notion of the series. I included color keys so the painters could easily color pick.

I added more detailed information to help out the sculptors.

I also included real world examples.

Something unique that I wanted to have available with this sculpture is a fully functional street light. So I brushed up on my electrical knowledge and designed a functional circuit. To my surprise, they said that this wouldn't be an issue.

Finally, we were nearing completion. However, the base of the sculpture was far too thin and now the problem was that the streetlight might snap. The solution was to thicken the bass. The sculptor came up with a quick solution but it wasn't quite what I was imagining.

So, I whipped up another idea. This way we could keep the crown and in fact add another layer of foliage and character to this piece. I always try to explain my ideas to avoid any confusion. Being transparent and detailed is mandatory when working in a partnership.

As you can see, this procedure hasn't been as easy as I anticipated. However, that isn't to say I haven't learned a copious amount. I will update you all once I near completion. I hope this little tidbit of information can help those of you who are interested in creating your own sculpture. Well, that's all for now. Take care y'all.

This particular statue is gonna be pricey since it'll be 1/6th scale meaning Bili will be a foot tall. But we discussed smaller, cheaper figures for the future.

Amazing

This is too awesome, I hope I can afford one!

Same ๐Ÿ˜‚

I contacted them in the summer of 2018 so I could create a figurine of Hamed for my Kickstarter. However, I did not have the funds to go through with it. After my book released, they contacted me in the summer of 2019 and we signed a partnership agreement and they are now officially licensed to create all future KON figurines.

Canโ€™t wait to get my hands on one!

This is sick! Was it hard to get a Level 52 to make you a figure?
