Character creation or not?
Added 2025-01-08 01:57:49 +0000 UTCI could just say my characters came from my head and leave it at that, but nothing in the world of art is that simple, everything is a construction.
Fern, calm like winter but capable of surprising you, would be an Arctic fox. Despite being small, they can travel long distances quickly, are resilient, and the cutest part are their fluffy tail, which serves as a blanket. Their colors would be more pastel to reflect the cold, but with details that reveal their inner self, like a red skirt.
Rowan would be similar to Fern, but not a fox, a wolf. Specifically, the most beautiful wolf I know: the maned wolf from Brazil (Lobo Guará). Bright red with long legs, it even eats fruit and is sociable with humans, making it a perfect match for Rowan, who would be outgoing. Unlike an Arctic fox that hides in the snow, the maned wolf stands out, glowing red against the "cerrado".
Blaze, on the other hand, is different: a reflection of that part of ourselves we try to hide. Because of this distinctiveness, I chose a lynx, a large feline. I won’t deny my passion for Chrono Cross shines through here—I loved when Serge transformed into Lynx, and I even carried those colors over to Blaze.
When I first think at then, Fern are radiated the calmness, Rowan was her opposite, overflowing with joy and comic relief, a contrast, and contrasts are always part of life, like Blaze, she represents something more instinctive, closer to our deepest desires.
When I finished the mood board, I realized these characters might have come from my time in the hospital, where I reevaluated my life: who I was, what I wanted, and what I "desire" to be. Freud would probably have a simpler explanation, calling them my Ego, Superego, and ID. But honestly, that felt too complicated even for me to grasp, so I went back to my design decisions.
