I've lately hit a conundrum. I really enjoy doing my comic digitally, but lately due to Inktober and me just messing around with ink, I've started to fall for the feeling of traditional once more. I know this is a huge leap, but I plan to do the next book all in ink. There is a feeling that I just can't replicate from my ipad, no matter how good procreate is. What is art if not the feeling it gives you, right? Sure you can create a visual spectacle with little to no trouble digitally, but the fear of making a mistake, the happy accidents, and the pleasure of feeling the ink leave the nib is what I believe is the true essence of being a comic artist. So, here, enjoy some sketches that I've had a blast drawing these past several nights.

Oddly enough, I'm also much faster working with ink than I am when working digitally. I would never have been able to complete so much work otherwise.

This face was inspired by a character from a manga I love, Vagabond. I use a 0.05 ink pen from various brands for these sketches. The thinner the tip, the more natural the cross hatching can seem without getting too dark too quick.

This piece of Bili running was done with a dip pen using India ink. The black is so much richer than with a micron pen, but it also takes a bit longer to make something like this due to having to ink the pen every 30 seconds to a minute.

I hope you enjoyed these sketches. I have more to come and I am also currently working on the next anatomy tutorial for you guys! Stay tuned comrades:)
