A frustrating week, though entirely predictable. Work's always unpleasant through December in the leadup to Christmas. The surge in workload's gotten in the way of writing. In my head, the way forward through the chapter's very clear, but finding the time this week's been elusive.
Although a side benefit of that has been a little extra clarity as to what I want to do with the chapter. At first, it was meant to be a short, conside scene added to the end of chapter 5. Almost immediately, I deviated from that. My tendency to write long meant I started fleshing out the dystopian setting a little, and I had detailing those early days scouting out the neighborhood.
But entering The Pit, I imagined I'd skip straight to the meeting with David's contact. But--no. Instead, the underground exclusive members' club Empyrean started to flesh itself out, and the meeting was unexpectedly made complicated by Dimitrios' presence. I wasn't entirely sure why he popped up at this point, but I went with it and now, his role in the story's clearer to me.
Anyway, I should be able to wrap up the rest of the chapter fairly quickly, and then turn to writing other stuff, as mentioned in last week's update. With that in mind, I'm looking to post a poll in the near future, to get your input on what you'd like to see next. You can look to that next week.
