Solid progress on Chapter Six this week. It's a real change of pace from all the emotional wrangling and punishment of the previous chapter. I wrote my first fight scene in ages, and that was a hell of a lot of fun. Of course, the usual worries nip at my heels - could I have condensed the last ten thousand words to a simple short paragraphs or two? And probably, yes, but a lot would've been lost along the way, including the introduction of a minor character who's going to prove important towards the end.
I started 2024 by writing non-Constant stuff, namely two chapters of Song of Silk and Shadows. Moving into December, I think I'll be looking to end the year as it began, that is, by focusing on a few other stories. I've got a bunch of short pieces I want to try my hand at, and I'd like to squeeze out at least one more chapter of Silk and Shadows.
However, I also don't want to stop with Constant, especially mid-chapter. So at the very least, I'll be finishing chapter six off through December. There'll still be plenty of content coming your way.
