Writing Update: 12/04/24
Added 2024-04-12 22:41:32 +0000 UTCStart of week: 34,980

The week started strong but peetered out a bit by the end, largely due to both real-world responsibilities but also due to a return to some editing. The word count also hides some deletions made throughout the chapter. I feel chapter 6 is coming along nicely, though I've run into a small bump in the road in terms of how to progress - hence the poll earlier in the week. Though I want to explore that aspect of the return to working life this side of the interlude, it also feels somewhat forced within the context of the chapter's conceit, that is the funeral and the conversation between David and Julia. I'm sure I'll work it out.
Meanwhile, chapter five is now fully posted to TGS. I wasn't planning to, but I've returned to the Interlude and started giving it a quick revision. I'm glad that I did! I've already cleaned up a bunch of typos, and made a few tweaks. I've also cut some stuff.
The biggest cut so far was Crystal's knitting scene. I like it, and it wasn't easy to write, but coming back to it, the scene just didn't seem to add much--so it's gone. Maybe it'll find it's way back in somewhere else, or in a different story.
In any case, have a great weekend!

It's true, isn't it? So many little typos I missed on the first sweeps through the chapter, now blindingly obvious. I should learn to let new chapters lies for a month or two before publishing.
